When religion blossomed and the teachings of the Heavens were passed down to man, man, like much of everything he touches, paraphrased to specifically suit his desires. There are many misconceptions about angels and demons, such as the extent of their free will. While Angels and Demons are bound to serve, enforcement of their service is like an unseen leash keeping them tethered to their duties and lords. Beyond that, their will is as free as Humanity's. Angels God's loyal subjects, beautiful creatures. An angel can belong to more than one choir for specific cases, such as Michael who is both Archangel and Seraphim. Grigory - This is a common angel, the vast majority falling under this category, but certainly not the least important. A Grigory's job is mostly that of a messenger, carrying important information to and from various celestial hosts. When called to duty, these angels are also the foot soldiers of Paradise. Strengths: Speed, finding people Weaknesses: Subordination (beneath Archangels) Archangels - Likewise, few can be found within this choir, but it isn't particularly powerful. An Archangel's job is to moderate the happenings of Earth, Heaven's "front line". On occasion, they may be used as spokespeople and ambassadors, and while generally no one choir is more powerful than another, Archangels do hold superiority over the Grigory. Many are already widely known, such as Gabriel. Strengths: Leadership, Celebrity, Experience Weaknesses: Hated (out of whatever people usually dislike celebrities for), No Privacy, Always busy Principalities - One is not created as a principality, but falls into this choir later instead, for their alignment is seldom with that of the rest of Heaven. For one reason or another, Principalities are angels that have chosen to have nothing to do with the workings of Heaven. Most live in secrecy on Earth, some having lived there for as long as humanity is old. Strengths: Knowledge of modern world, neutrality Weaknesses: Otherwise powerless Powers - Warrior angels, specializing in the matters of killing. Powers are generally darker beings, capable of doing things morally incomprehensible to other choirs, and are often mistaken as demons themselves. Samael is their general. Strengths: Physically Strong/Powerful Weaknesses: Stereotyped, Distrusted Virtues - Elemental angels, also seen as wizards, alchemists, and sorcerers. There is only room for one dominant element within them. They are a research and development sect. Strengths: Manipulation of a Present Element: Fire - May manipulate all fire already present, but cannot make flames grow or summon them into creation. May extinguish. Earth - May control loose sediment (pebbles, sand, etc). May also drastically speed the process of plant growth to the point of visible aging Air - May control pressure to the extent of 60 mph winds Water - Collection of liquid must be visible and in liquid form, not gas Weaknesses: Powerless without present elements, physically weak Dominions - Angelic bureaucrats, greedy in nature and very critical. They like to bestow special terretory upon themselves, such as "Angel of Sobriety", and "Angel of Bathtime", all of which are generally just as unimpressive as the next. Their main strengths are in organization and management. Strengths: Usually knows what's going on, has intel Weaknesses: Picky, physically weak Thrones - These are more stereotypical angels, in the sense that they are supposed to represent kindness, peace, and humility - all that is morally good. They are also considered the supreme guardians, as one generally must go through them if they wish to speak to God. In other parts, also considered "God's Homeboys". Strengths: Direct contact with the Heavenly Father, respect Weaknesses: Stereotyped, loathed by demons (most demons think Thrones are pretentious) Cherubim - Protectors of God's glory, Cherubs are generally seen as musicians and artists, spreading the word of grace and hope using a wide variety of mediums. They are obsessive about beauty, and remain a mostly neutral sect, save for when God Himself is concerned, in which case they are fiercely loyal. Cherubs have four wings, as opposed to the usual single pair. Strengths: Charisma, muse-like influence, lovely singing voices and musical talent Weaknesses: Easily seduced by beauty (of any kind) Seraphim - Like Archangels, Seraphim do hold authority over other angels. Their word is considered the word of God, and thus may hold power over all other choirs. This is God's task force. If a Seraphim appears in the mix, it will be because the situation is severe and needs equally severe attendance. They have six wings, as opposed to two or four. Strengths: Reputation, intimidation, mystery, physically superior Weaknesses: High profile ***Please speak with a staff member before applying as either an archangel or Seraphim.*** Demons Lucifer's hordes, their prettiest are only as pretty as Humans, but are otherwise ugly and monsterish. A demon may not be two subspecies at the same time like angels and choirs. Succubi/Incubi - Nothing particularly special classifies a demon into this category save the fact that they feed off sexual energy for nourishment. To these creatures, sex is nothing but food, and is often treated as such. Due to this fact, they may be extremely charismatic, but at the same time very emotionally dis-attached. Strengths: Charisma Weaknesses: Emotionally dis-attached, lack of enthusiasm Carnal Sins - It is the duty of these demons to regulate sin through the worlds. By merely lingering in their presence, the surrounding area will be influenced by either lust, wrath, greed, gluttony, envy, pride, and sloth, whichever the demon represents. Strengths: Influence surrounding area with sin Weaknesses: Influence is uncontrollable Furies - A formidable equivalent to Heaven's Powers, Furies are born of battle and specialize in war. Anger is a great driving force in Furies, but you may find a large variance in personalities within this class. A typical military unit, they are also used as guards in Hell. Strengths: Physically Strong/Powerful Weaknesses: Short Temper Ferrymen - The duty of a Ferryman is to deposit the freshly-dead souls into the circle in which they belong. They are used as guides secondly, as most have a supernatural sense of direction as well as know the levels of Hell intimately. Strengths: Supreme Navigation Weaknesses: Inept in Combat Shape-shifters - This class has the ability to change forms, typically into a creature who bares a resemblance to a known animal. Dogs are common, as are serpents. They are not known to be great thinkers. Some are used, literally, as pets, while others guard more secure parts of Hell. Strengths: Ability to change shape into a single animal (animals can be distorted such as three-headed dogs and chimera) Weaknesses: Reckless Imps - The most common class of demon, Imps have been making their way back and forth between Hell and Earth well before the arrival of the apocalypse. Their specialty is in manipulating surrounding environments, tweaking the details enough to cause catastrophe such as a plane crash (or, as equally catastrophic to a singular individual, a computer crash). They are much more knowledgeable about the modern world than any other classes, often being techno-savvy and up-to-speed with all kinds of popular human culture. Most imps have a terrible sense of humor. Strengths: Knowledge of modern world, clever Weaknesses: Socially Retarded Influences - Similar to Carnal Sins, the strength of Influences is with the manipulating of surrounding minds, but unlike the Sins, they use a much more controlled, direct approach by entering a target's mind and whispering suggestions to them as if they were the target's conscience. Strengths: Possession Weaknesses: Possession's power is only as great as target's lack of will power Troglodytes - Pit fiends. They are generally the most physically distorted of the classes, and tend to use their horrific appearances to get what they want. They represent fear, their outer shells typically similar to something one might see in a particularly frightening nightmare. Since the gates have opened, the Troglodytes have been taking turns on Earth to assure Humans do not become desensitized to them. Strengths: Intimidation Weaknesses: Physically Unattractive Shades - Shadow demons, ghosts. Capable of speaking with the dead as well as shifting their bodies into a more incoporeal state, able to pass through solid matter. Magically disappearing monsters under your bed would fall into this category. Daylight, or the light of God, is incredibly uncomfortable for them to endure. Strengths: Phasing through solid objects (must be completely through object/person before returning to a solid form), stealth/near invisibility Weaknesses: Natural Light Humans and Halfbreeds Why play as a human if you can be a demon or an angel? Humans are far from powerless. Humanity gives the character a home field advantage, as well as the advantage of appearing weak to lure others into a false sense of security. Humans are more diverse with less limits, not to mention the general excitement of what it would be like to see the end of the world. Demons and Angels, while flashier, do have restrictions, such as potentially having to take commands. Humans have also made a name for themselves as being incredibly resourceful and intelligent. They make the guns that all sides currently use, and it is within their power to defend themselves against celestial hosts. As far as half-demons and Nephilims go, Humanity is a dominant trait. Offspring will appear entirely Human without the advantages of their supernatural parents, save for never getting sick and never growing old. It's very dangerous to be a halfbreed. One must keep an extremely low profile for fear of being plucked up by laboratory scientists. Halfbreeds are also generally frowned upon. The parents are socially outcasted, and in some cases, put to death. On the Subject of Death Since Heaven, Hell, and Earth have collided, meeting one's mortality may only be the beginning. After a Human soul is judged, they will either find themselves in Paradise or the Inferno. If found in Paradise, the soul may choose to remain floating in the endless bliss of God's golden light or become an angel and join the ranks in servitude. If found in Hell, a soul must earn one's position if they wish to become a demon, or they will remain in the pits for all eternity to waste away through eternal torture. Even as an alternative, becoming a demon is somewhat akin to joining the social workings of a federal prison. Neither is considerably appealing to the norm. If an angel or demon dies, and they can, just as easily, they will be reincarnated on Earth as a Human with no prior knowledge of their previous life. This is another great reason to play as a Human, because the character can continue playing on another plane of existence, as opposed to Angels and Demons (unless you want to play as a drooling baby). As stated previous, Angels and Demons may be killed quite easily in all the same ways as Humans. Guns and sharp, pointy objects work just fine. The only difference would be that the supernatural races do not succumb to age or disease. Edited by Crowley, Sep 7 2009, 10:33 PM.
