All suggestions will be taken into account and considered when we're cleaning up. But in order to take these suggestions into account, we actually need to have suggestions made. So please, take a click on that button and post something. You may have noticed that some of the new skins are up. However, I haven't been able to make banners for all of them. This will be corrected soon.
NEW! (As of Saturday, March 20th, 2010) to the new and improved Law Book of Wicked Writers!
| Welcome to the wonderful land of Wicked Writers! Now, you're probably wondering, "Why can't I see anything?" unless, of course, you're message-board-savvy, in which case you're debating whether or not you should sign up or not. Of course, since this is our writing board, we're going to say, "Join us! Join us!" and you can choose whether or not you want to heed that. While you're deciding whether or not to do that, let me be a good salesperson and illustrate just what spectacular goodness you're going to get out of signing up. First and foremost, you get to go up to everyone and wave your writing around in their face shouting, "Look how good I am! Look how good I am!" Well, not exactly, we're a little humbler about it here. We're here to tell you that the writing you're waving around is terrible. But there's an upside to this - we also are here to tell you what you can do to make it worthy of waving in everyone's face and bragging how good your writing is. You also can tell people how bad their writing is, and tell them how they can make it better. Aside from that, you can also show us your artwork of pretty much all varieties (save porn), share your woes with fellow writers and artists, talk about those amazing books you've read, and compete in contests and tournaments. What's more, it's all for free! (Just don't read the fine print - only kidding, there isn't any) Have I fulfilled my job? Are you tempted into joining? Well, just click on that little link below, and you can join our community of starving artists and writers. Come join us! (You know you want to!) And, if you're smart enough to have already joined us, just sign in: |

... how would you do it? I think it's time for a bit of a change around here - anything. I don't like having things the same way for too long, personally, but since I don't want to annoy anyone by changing something without consulting the members because I know I would find that quite aggravating, myself. ![]() What would you change about Wicked Writers? Suggest anything. If you think the skins are crap, what would you like to see? Is the layout screwy? New emoticons? Let's have EVERYONE to participate! Come on, let's all do the Voldy dance. New skins, definitely. Ones that are easy on the eyes, that you can live with, and that look good. I would make WW be more active, too, but we can't just DO that. I'll post anything else if I think of something. |

hmm. I think it's time for a promotion spree. The main NaNo forums have self-promotion area -- does the young writers programme have that? It would be a great way to bring new blood in. EDIT: It basically does. I'll get to posting something up there within the next week, but at the time being I can't really think. Edited by Gravity, Feb 27 2010, 03:46 AM.

We could put links in our siggys, too. I'm not a member in any other young writers' forums besides these Zetaboards ones, but I know a couple of young writers on the regular writing forums that I go on. |

Excellent. I'm currently looking into skins and trying to find ones that are well designed and pleasing, but not too techy because techy and literature just don't seem to go together. Ones that I've found so far: Altaria Ocean Depths This is a nifty one that changes with the time of day (optional). Given that, I haven't seen the night-time theme, but I assume it's similar and just a bit darker. We don't need to use the fish/ocean buttons for it. Shiva Autumnea I really do like this one. I think we tossed around with this one before. |

Here are another few I found. I tried to find ones in colors we don't really have. We have a lot of blues, so here's a red one that I quite like, but I'm not sure how readable the regular font color is. Red Dawn A journal themed one, but I don't know how I feel about it: My Journal I like this one a lot: Tea Garden I think this might be kind of nice, sort of a "writer's coffeehouse" thing: Cocoa That's enough, I think, to choose from. I'll start a poll. Also, does anyone mind the message above the forums? I thought it might be best to bring attention to it in that way because the color isn't blaring and I really would like people's input. However, if people find it too distracting or disruptive, I will most certainly shorten it or take it down. It won't be up there for more than a month or so, I promise. Only while we're fixing things up. Edited by Keira, Feb 27 2010, 08:55 PM.

I know i don't mind. I didn't even know that was possible. Kind of nifty. I like My Journal, as well as Tea Garden. I do not like Red Dawn -- it's a little painful and easy reading is a prime directive. |

That was kind of what I was thinking as well. I don't think I'll add that one in the poll. Are there any skins you really want to keep of the available ones? I know I would like to keep Night Light. Any others you DO NOT want to be unavailable? I won't delete any entirely, I'm just going to disable them. Edited by Keira, Feb 27 2010, 08:58 PM.

I switch between the original and Frostee, so I would like to keep them but if anyone wants 'em gone I'm cool with that. |

I use the old AHO theme because I'm sentimental like that . . . xD Anyway, I like Alteria, My Journal and Ocean Depths ones - I can see Ocean Depths in the night theme and it's a darkish blue. |

So as of now: Frostee, AHO, Beautiful Elegance, Etavarium, and Night Light are staying. And of course, the original ZB Theme. Alteria, My Journal, Tea Garden, and Cocoa are going to be added. This could be subject to change, depending on whether anyone else votes. I suppose we should leave this open for a week or so in case. Update on Our Spring Cleaning Discussion: - Promotion (pretty much covered) - Skins (covered) Shall we discuss the layout now? There are definitely forums to be cleaned out or removed, etc. Edited by Keira, Feb 28 2010, 06:00 PM.

I don't know about this, but maybe adding a chat room. That'd be cool. |

hmm. We could consider a chatbox. Those are easy to access and fun. On the topic of cleaning things up: I would offer up the "joinable groups" for sacrifice to the forum gods, unless we can really get them going. How? I have no idea, but Redhead seems to, and I'll try working brainstorming so watch this space! because tomorrow or sometime later in the week (again, sorry guys) there will be ideas, lots and lots of them. |

I want to keep the critiquing group, at least. I do have some ideas for it, if we got new members on WW and got people who were regularly writing and critiquing. |

I'm hesitant to add a chatroom. I've known multiple boards that had relatively slow activity, and when they added a chatroom to boost it, the chatroom got tons of activity while the regular board got none at all. If we did have a chatroom, I would make it like the TW one, where it's discrete, or make it invisible to guests so that they don't join just for the chatroom.
