All suggestions will be taken into account and considered when we're cleaning up. But in order to take these suggestions into account, we actually need to have suggestions made. So please, take a click on that button and post something. You may have noticed that some of the new skins are up. However, I haven't been able to make banners for all of them. This will be corrected soon.
NEW! (As of Saturday, March 20th, 2010) to the new and improved Law Book of Wicked Writers!
| Welcome to the wonderful land of Wicked Writers! Now, you're probably wondering, "Why can't I see anything?" unless, of course, you're message-board-savvy, in which case you're debating whether or not you should sign up or not. Of course, since this is our writing board, we're going to say, "Join us! Join us!" and you can choose whether or not you want to heed that. While you're deciding whether or not to do that, let me be a good salesperson and illustrate just what spectacular goodness you're going to get out of signing up. First and foremost, you get to go up to everyone and wave your writing around in their face shouting, "Look how good I am! Look how good I am!" Well, not exactly, we're a little humbler about it here. We're here to tell you that the writing you're waving around is terrible. But there's an upside to this - we also are here to tell you what you can do to make it worthy of waving in everyone's face and bragging how good your writing is. You also can tell people how bad their writing is, and tell them how they can make it better. Aside from that, you can also show us your artwork of pretty much all varieties (save porn), share your woes with fellow writers and artists, talk about those amazing books you've read, and compete in contests and tournaments. What's more, it's all for free! (Just don't read the fine print - only kidding, there isn't any) Have I fulfilled my job? Are you tempted into joining? Well, just click on that little link below, and you can join our community of starving artists and writers. Come join us! (You know you want to!) And, if you're smart enough to have already joined us, just sign in: |

Blog? What Blog? I was wondering the same thing. If you go to your profile, you'll see somewhere in your preferences something about a blog. I don't remember where. If you're interested I suggest that you check it out; it's relatively easy to use. If you want to see an example, go to my profile, I have a page of me testing the blog. Here is the blog, on which blather and board updates will be posted. Mostly board updates. Is it true? Is ZetaBoards that fantastic? YES! What different functions are there? Well, we have blogs, as mentioned above. A nice, built in avatar gallery. Like, really really nice. A better BB Code. Topic tags Other stuff That's a good question. I'll let you all know if I discover any more. IDK, txting my BFF Jill! What the hell?(Excuse my French) I didn't get a word of that. This is a writing forum: make it sound like one by using proper grammar. This is a board of smart people. It should sound smart. (Though it doesn't have to sound pompous. We really don't want to warn you - but that's if you use it too much. Can I be a staffer? PLEASE?! The question is: Are you ready to handle being a staffer? As Douglas Adams said, (and I'm paraphrasing here) "Those who want to be in power are usually least suited for the job. Those who don't want the power are often the people who should be." If we feel you should be staff, and we have a staff opening, you'll get to be staff. If not, tough nuggies. Keira and I have learned a lot about what it means to run a website, and it takes a buttload of work. (Excuse my crudity.) What's this ZetaBoards thing? You know, that's a good question. It's an IF board improvement....I think. You know, I'm not really sure. When I do, I'll let you know. Are we going to have a different skin? Yes, we are. There's a skin changer at the bottom; we'll figure out how to make that one work. Unfortunately, I here that we won't have any Keira original skins. Perhaps later in this boards life, but not now. The redirect from the AHO isn't working! Well, you made it, so no biggie. But no, it isn't working, and I don't know why. Don't use it. Just use the links that I've put all over the News section. Can I change my username? This is my name-changing policy: I sure hope that your username is one you like when you register, because I am not going to enjoy changing your name, and I probably won't verify your request. I don't know if there's going to be the whole confusion with "who is this'' and "did the same person post this? What is this?" In other words: you can requests a name change. Unless there is a good reason, I'm not going to verify the request. So... set up a username you like. Okay? Wonderber. I HAVE A QUESTION!? Are you asking me if you have a question. You can stop raising your hand now. If you have a question, just PM or email me, or email Keira and I at the board email, authors_hang_out@yahoo.com. We'd prefer it if you PMed us, though. What about Swearing? Swearing = warning. We have that pinned. If you didn't read it, well, luck is cruel, man, but it was your own fault. Oh, well. No swearing. I've updated filters to insure that it doesn't happen, but no. No no no no no. Edited by Keira, Jul 25 2010, 11:45 PM.

Yeah, um, I just noticed this, that, you, Gravity, creator of the No Text or IM Messaging Language rule, the GOLDEN rule of Wicked Writers, used an IM language phrase: btw. *cringes* As to comply with our Wicked Writers rule book, I must take my duty as an admin into my hands and warn you via PM - jk. ACK! I used IM language! No! Well, now we're both in the wrong, so we're both even. Note to members, we won't actually warn you for using one or two IM language words, phrases, or abbreviations. When they get very excessive, then we'll warn you, but I know I don't mind an IM language phrase here or there. |

'People want to know why I do this, why I write such gross stuff. I like to tell them I have the heart of a small boy... ...and I keep it in a jar on my desk.' 'Both Rowling and Meyer, they're speaking directly to young people... The real difference is that Jo Rowling is a terrific writer and Stephenie Meyer can't write worth a darn. She's not very good.' - Stephen King | |

SIoJPiQAf (Some information on joinable groups. In Q/A form.) What are joinable groups? Joinable groups are groups that you have to option of joining. The way we have them set up they're like clubs within the forum. So far we have the Crazy Novelists Club and the Critic's Lounge, or Critique Litteraire, which ever title stays. How do I join these groups? Just go to Preferences. Don't click change avatar, or signature or profile. Just preferences. Now, see the white box with all of those fields you can click on at the top? Down, at the bottom on the right it should say joinable groups. Click that, and then you'll see the groups. It's straightforward after that - it says join group. What groups do you have? Crazy Novelists Club and The Critic's Lounge. There are descriptions in the forum, and in the joinable groups part of preferences. Both will be lots and lots of fun. Who lead these groups? Keira leads the critique club for now. I lead Crazy Novelists. Why do they have theme songs? Why don't you have a theme song, I would like to know. ... They have theme songs because I felt theme songs were needed. There a little fun and offbeat. Why is Crazy Novelists password protected? If it still is password protected (which I believe it is) it's because, because...well, because I said so, that's why. On second thought, Keira was right. It is no longer password protected, though you are encouraged to join the group. |

Why did you add an RPG section? I'm curious. We added an RPG section because it's a fun, interactive way to work on characterization, and even spontaneous story lines. Why do members need five posts to participate and ten to start a game? Because members should be mostly invested in the writing part of the site, and should get to know that part of the site, before getting involved with the RPGs. Get their feet wet, review some work, post a piece of writing, post a bit in the rest of the place. What's an RPG Role Playing Game, shortened to RP sometimes What's LARPING Live Action Role Playing. Or, if you are a Chainmail Bikini Fan (it's a very good, now dead, webcomic) Live Action Ragmar Pummeling. This is something impossible to do over the internet, but if you look like you're about to start a flame war, I'll consider it LARPing, and will give you a talking to. |

Some stuff on post counts and bumping. Read! Wicked Writers, just like most writing boards, has a policy on bumping topics. You are allowed to bump a topic when: a) You are posting the next piece of your work such as Lykaios' Photographs (thank you Lykaios) as a double post. b) The topic is a hot topic and has not been posted in for two or more weeks (#1) like this: Childhood Madness (again, thank you Lykaios) You are advised not to bump a topic when: c) The topic is not a hot topic and has not seen activity for two or more weeks. For example:
Notice the dates. They're really far from each other. Not good. d) You are double posting in your own topic in the Notebook and it is not contributary to your work, unless it is after two weeks. Example:
Should someone decide they aren't going to abide by the rules, and they have been a member for awhile, depending, they can get anywhere from a reminder via PM (for letter "c") to a tracked warning (for letter "d"). New members will get more mercy as they are new and might just be looking for somewhere to get to know people. ![]() *** All new members must have at least ten posts in order to contribute their own work into the library. Failure to comply will result in your work being deleted. Members who joined June 20th, 2008, or earlier are okay, because it wasn't mentioned before then. Posts include any posts you may have had on the Author's Hang Out board. Thanks to Keira, for implementing these policies! |

I for one disagree about that. it is are native tongue. it is a form of censorship and while people have been cursing since 1940's, it suddenly tasteless to curse. as long as i can curse on my writing, i am fine. |

Swearing in writing is fine, though we strongly suggest that you make use of our Locked Notebook, which is a joinable group. We want this place friendly for all ages. In fact, there's a good possibility that we'll get a considerably younger member. Swearing in the Locked Notebook is acceptable if it's not outside of writing. |
