The MLB record for career RBI's by a switch hitter is Eddie Murray. If A Rod took one bat his opposite hand in his career and he had more RBI's than Murray would he become the record holder, would he need a hit or an RBI , or a minimum number of a bats with each hand ? |

Interesting question! I can't find any minimum # of at bats or any other requirements to be considered a "switch hitter", I suppose it's an unofficial designation, like a knuckle-ball pitcher. Technically, I suppose any batter who changes sides at the plate is a switch-hitter, so your premise seems to hold water. But you know how baseball people are about their "unwritten rules", so they would probably just ignore it if he tried. |
