Champions League, Top 32 teams in Europe drawn into 8 leagues of 4 teams - in the league phase no teams from the same country may play each other. The top 16 team (1st and 2nd in each league) then play against each other in a playoff type scenario.

So how does the selction process work? I understand that each association gets a certain # of spots, like in the EPL the top 3 are in and the 4th is in qualifying, but what happens if a teams drops out of the top 4? Does another team take their place in the Champs league? And if so, what happens to the wins the former team had already accrued?

I don't understand how you play a league where teams are popping in and out constantly. Fill me in. :)

Its all to do with the end of season standings Nolan - So each league gets apportioned a certain number of slots depending on how successful the league is - here is the wiki link on the formats: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UEFA_Champions_League#Format

Ok, I think you found the light switch in my brain. ;) So the teams now playing in the Champs league are doing so based on their placing in last season's standings? See, that makes more sense. It's ESPN's fault with their confusing table. lol

Spurs played an epic game in Milan last week against the defending CL champs in Italy. They went down 4-0 right away and in the middle of that their goalkeeper got carded, so it was 10 against 11 for the rest of the match. Gareth Bale scored a hat trick in the second half, but they still lost 4-3. The teams play again on Tuesday in London.

Before that though, is tomorrow's EPL match against Manchester United. Spurs haven't won at Old Trafford since 1989. A couple seasons ago, they went up 2-0, then a controversial decision went against Tottenham and resulted in a penalty kick for United. They then scored 5 goals in a row! Don't like our chances tomorrow, but you never know...

The Gunners beat West Ham, Man U beats the Spurs but there's controversy on the 2nd goal (Vibes, I'll let you weigh in on that one). Chelsea continues the winning.

As for the Manchester United result... that was terrible. Nani should have been carded in the first place and then he scores the goal like he just won the World Cup! Unbelievable. Spurs never get calls in their favor at OT. They lose that match and a few days later beat Milan 3-1 at White Hart Lane in a great display of soccer. Today, they lose to Bolton 4-2. Bolton! Such as it is being a Tottenham supporter.

The North London Derby is on the 20th. Go Spurs!

Well done to the Spurs for the epic comeback win at Emirates today. A heartbreaker for the Gunners but it was a great comeback.
