I disagree, they got beat by a less talented, less experienced team, ranked 18 places below them in the world rankings. They were beaten by a team that wanted it more, had a better plan, and outran them for two hours. All credit to the Ghanans. They had the hopes of a continent on their shoulders and they came through against the odds. US soccer has slightly less credibility today than Ghanan soccer, whatever that means. Hold their head high? If they are so proud of losing then they don't deserve the world's respect or our fanship. However; I think they are devastated, and they should be, and I respect them for knowing that this was a winnable game and they dogged it, and being heart-broken like a true competitor should be. Don't get me wrong, we have a very good team. But to call this game anything but an embarrassment is seeing it through rose-colored glasses. |

I agree, that was clearly a goal for England, everyone in the world but that one ref knew it. The final tally says it wouldn't have mattered, but who knows if it would have changed the momentum?

I think it does matter as you generally change your strategy when you get behind and time is running out . You get more aggressive taking chances however I do think the better team won |

South America is doing well , with 4 of the 5 teams in the top 8, the only one not advancing was Chile who lost to Brasil |

Good point, and with the 2014 World Cup (and the 2016 summer Olympics) in Rio de Janeiro, South America will be the a big focus of the soccer world for years to come. |

No games today, but I just realized that we could have an all-South American "final four" at the World Cup, since none of the SA teams play each other in the quarterfinals. |
