RSA plays Mexico to a draw (ha, ha) and Uruguay gets a nil-nil draw with France, which I think the Uruguayans have to feel pretty good about going forward. Tomorrow, the big one...England vs USA. I am going on record saying the US will not lose this match. Maybe a draw, but I'm declaring a 2-1 upset. Go USA!! ![]() Also, S. Korea plays Greece and Argentina plays Nigeria. |

I could not believe US got a tie! I was impressed. Before today I was never a fan of soccer but after watching all of the intensity, I am on the bandwagon. |

They played their hearts out vs a team that should have won on paper. If they play that hard the next 2 games they may very well win the group. |

Broadcaster apologizes to fans for missing England's 1st goal on HD service By The Associated Press (CP) – 1 hour ago LONDON — British broadcaster ITV is apologizing to fans for missing the first goal of the England vs. United States World Cup match. Fans watching the channel's high definition service on Saturday say the coverage suddenly switched to a commercial when the game was still a scoreless draw. It returned with England holding a 1-0 lead after Steven Gerrard scored in the fourth minute, England's first goal of the tournament. The match ended 1-1. ITV1 presenter Adrian Chiles also apologized at halftime, telling viewers "I believe there was some interruption in your coverage." ITV last year missed Everton's winning goal against Liverpool during an FA Cup tie. It apologized at the time for the "inexcusable glitch." Copyright © 2010 The Canadian Press. All rights reserved. |

What they should apologize for is not going to commercial during Green's "glitch". LOL |

what a great result that was for the US. They were certainly a bit dominated in possession but played with enough energy and determination to really limit the English chances. England was definitely not sharp except for Stevie G. For three quarters of the match they insisted on playing everything wide to Wright-Phillips. Totally unfathomable since he can barely play. It wasn't until almost 60 minutes they started to really play through the middle with Gerrard, Lampard and Rooney. That result certainly puts a qualifying spot squarely in US laps. And any other slip up could cost England a totally embarrassing exit. The intrigue just never stops at World Cups. Love it!!!!!!! |

The US cannot afford a loss to Slovenia, if England beats Algeria (which is very likely) then the US will be 3rd at 0-1-1 hoping for someone else to lose. However, it appears that Howard is ok & will be minding the net on Friday, which improves our chances. In other news, Holland dispatches the Danes, Japan shocks Cameroon, and the Italians pull one out of the fire vs Paraguay. Edited by nolanbuc, Jun 14 2010, 06:21 PM.
