Some of them I get, like: "Only use a straight, hard slide to break up a double play." If you do more than that, someone could get hurt. But some of them don't make sense. Like this one: A-Rod breaks a rule --> Don't Walk This Way Now I am not an A-Rod fan. Despite being one of the best to ever lace up a set of cleats, he can be really bush-league sometimes (yelling at fielders trying to catch a fly ball, swatting the ball out of the 1st baseman's hand when he tried to tag him out), but this is not one of those times. Did he do it to show disrespect? Maybe, but I doubt it. He just took the shortest route back to 1st. What do you think? Are there "unwritten rules" that make no sense to you? |

I always thought it was the ruleand you had to back along the basepath and even touch a base if you had to touched it originally. It is bad sportsmanship, I've never seen it done before, can you imagine if it became the norm, and all the comments between the runner and the pitcher , would just turn into trouble |

As for touching the base, I think that's only in the case of a caught fly out that you have to touch every base in reverse. A foul is a dead ball, so the runners don't have to remain in the baseline. As to sportsmanship, if he did it to rattle the pitcher or be rude, I'd agree with you. Of course, it would have taken 5 extra steps to walk around the mound, so maybe he did do it on purpose.
