Being older than the country itself, it was hard to find something that was older than Kate was. Art, however, was one of these few things. As she gazed upon a painting, fastened to the wall, she felt close to the piece. Not because of the subject, or the use of color. No, the symbolism or contrast meant little to her, but the painting itself was a different matter. No matter how old it got, how many centuries passed, it would be preserved. It would still appear to be the same age, the oil paint still glistening in the light slightly. The only difference would be the value. No matter how many centuries passed, Kate was preserved. She still appeared to be the same age. She and the painting were one and the same, though she frowned upon seeing the date, realizing that it was not as old as perhaps a Da Vinci. No, she was in fact older than this painting as well, though with luck it would be preserved as she was. If one considered being preserved lucky. |

Speaking of "lucky," a dark-haired woman walked through the museum, sunglasses resting on her head and a cold coffee drink in her hand. The drink was probably not allowed into the museum, but no one had ever told her different, so she continued to indulge herself while looking around at the pretty pictures. She had hoped that her brother would have joined her, as they often went to museums together, both appreciating art so much. Alas, Gerard seemed to have had other plans for the day, so Lucky ventured to the museum alone. She felt like a child again for a moment, disappointed that he didn't accompany her. It was truly silly. They had done everything together for the past couple of decades. Not going to the museum with her one day was not going to make any difference. Turning the corner, her eyes fell upon a girl focused on one of the paintings in particular. She curiously rose a brow, taking a sip of the coffee before her eyes lit up and she strolled over to where the girl stood. "Is that you, Juliet?" Lucky asked. |

Kate was confused. No one called her Juliet anymore, that was her alias from at least thirty years ago, back when she and December had been hiding out in... oh, what state was that again? Was it Pennsylvania? She began to worry. What if she had met a human that long ago and was running into them now, thirty years later and still looking the same? However, upon turning and seeing a familiar face, the same beauty mark and the same hazel eyes, still not aged in the least since the last time they met, she allowed herself to calm down a bit. It was only Lucky, if she was still going by that name. A fellow vampire, one what Kate had no reason to be suspicious of. "It's Kate now, actually," Kate replied with a small smile. "It's good to see you again, Lucky. How is your brother doing?" |

Kate. Lucky nodded to acknowledge the name change. It was a nice name. Many wonderful women were named Kate. However, Lucky thought that "Juliet" fit the girl better. Something about her said "Juliet" rather than "Kate." Lucky thought for a moment, wondering if Kate had ever actually told her what her birth name had been. Lucky couldn't imagine not going by Lucille or Lucky. Her name was one of the few things that still held her down to her humanity. "You too," Lucky said, raising the drink to her lips as Kate asked how Gerard was doing. "Oh, he's fine. Same ol', same ol'. Only thing that's changed is the city, really. Well, and the government." The Sunlight Protection Force had greatly affected the afterlives of every vampire. It made things that much harder to hide, it kept going from predator to prey a far more likely fear. |
