I think I might just actually write a story with this basis/plot thingy, but I won't get around to it for awhile, so I think it'll be fun to RP with it. It's written somewhat cheesily, but was exceptionally fun to write, so please excuse it. B-)

Basis: There is a parallel at 91oN that separates this world from the one beyond. No one on record has ever been there, but legends say it is a place where no one comes back from, should they venture there. It is an unknown territory. Some say it is a barren wasteland, others, a dangerous sea. Yet others deny its existence.

So, you find out a there is a voyage taking place to this uncharted land. It is to take off on June the first from Grim Island off the coast of Iceland. Sometime along the way, we make a stop at Samien Island to regroup and resupply. The journey we take is as follows in red:

At dock sits the Great Oasis and Captain Naomi Curringham, waiting for a crew to help search for the 91st Parallel.

Captain Naomi Curringham sat casually on the dock bench, her arms resting over the back of the bench, her legs streatched with her boots crossed, out in front of her. Over them was a wooden table, with a scroll of parchment and a quill sticking out of an ink pot. Across the top of the parchment was written The Great Oasis. Patiently, Naomi waited for people to come and sign onto her crew.

Hettie had been watching her for a while from the street cornera wry smile on her face. The voyage the lady at the desk was going to go on was only a rumour around the men of the docks, they said that she was going to lead her crew on an fools quest North. But Hettie knew that the men said this because each of them wanted to go.
Her heart thumped beneath her shirt, would the captain considder a girl for her crew? The smile vanished from her face, but returned again as an idea sprung to mind. Quickly she ran back to the hideout and grabbed some of Derek's clothes from his box, guiltily she put them on and put Derek's old cap over her unruly short - brown hair. The mistress had never allowed for long hair in case of lice.
Not long later Hettie was back on the street where the lady still waited. And slowly she made her way towards her, a thousand questions and doubts filling her small mind. She stopped before the desk and the lady looked up.
"Cabin boy Ma'am?"

(This is a great idea for a story! :) Did you draw that map?)

As the girl ran up to the desk, Naomi leaned over and rested her elbows on the desk. "You'll need a better disguise than that to pass off as a cabin boy," she said. "No matter. Ladies are welcome on the Great Oasis 's long as they're ready to work hard." She cleared her throat and adjusted her hat. "Cabin mate? Sign your name and you can stand over there." Gesturing to the ramp up to the galleon resting on the dock, she resumed her relaxed position. "More will be with you soon enough."

Hattie merely stood still as the lady saw right through her disguise, her mouth the only give-away of her shock. The knot tightened in her stomach as she picked up the quill from the desk and drew a wonky 'H.C.' and shuffled over to the gang plank of the magnificant ship. A chilly gust of wind made her shiver and she breathed in the salty air. A new world awaits . . . She thought with a smile.

"One down, only about a dozen at least to go..." sighed Naomi to herself. It was only a little after ten in the morning, according to the large clock tower that loomed over the town, and she was bored already. She pulled the parchment toward her and marked "CM" next to Hattie's name.

"You have the wrong person," said March, on his knees. "Really, you do."

The government officials looked at each other. So cold and distant - he hated them. One of them drew a musket, fastened on her comrade's bayonet.

March imagined that being slid into his gut or his throat. It sent shivers down his spine.

"I'll work my sins off," he said. "Really I will. I'll...I'll...I'll find work. Bring back my money to you."

"Who'll take a dog on the streets?"

"Um...I'll...I'll...I'll work there!" said March, in a sudden burst of inspiration. He pointed at the woman with the ship roster. "I'll work on that ship, and bring back the spoils of my journey. Do you know what great philosophers somewhere said? An eye for an eye made the world blind. Please."

"If you don't come back with the right amount we'll kill," said one of the officers.

March ran off, limping on the ankle the government had broken.

"Tough day, boy?" asked Naomi as the boy limping towards her. "Don't want to mess with Them. They don't take a thing without absolute seriousness." She studied him and looked at his twisted ankle. "You going to be okay, kid?"

"I'm fine," said March, trying not to make a face. "Please hand me the roster."

Before the captain could move, March had grabbed the scroll and the pen and the ink, and scratched something into the scroll. He hoped that it resembled letters, but he'd never learned how to read.

"There," he said. "March Ackland. That's me."

Startled, Naomi looked at the scrawled name. It was a bit difficult to read, but it would do. "Any specific job you want on the ship, Mr. Ackland?" she asked March.

"Just...something," was all March said. "Anything will do."
