Remember to tell us your opinion and why you think that way. Is nuclear power acceptable or are there better alternative energy sources? Nuclear Power Nuclear Power Alternative energy |

I believe that nuclear power acceptable, as well as that there are better alternatives, i.e. wind or solar power. Or possibly... No power. Muwahahahahahaha... Muwahahahahahahaha! |

Same thing I was thinking earlier. For the time being Nuclear power is acceptable, especially since it does provide so much power. But the pollution and potential disasters that can happen because of it (Chernobyl being an example) are very very bad. Thus, steps should be taken to find a reliable and efficient way to get power. |

is what we need is to find a way to do nuclear fusion instead of fission. We could generate 100X more power per nuclear rod than what fission currently gets us. Anyways i say that it is alright for the time being as long as it lowers the amount of fossil fuels being used and then we can eventually get away from fossil fuels entirely |

i think we need alternative means of generating energy. Nuclear energy is far to messy, and is only going to contribute to our dependency on means of energy that are harmful to ourselves and our atmosphere. I am all about clean energy like dams, wind energy, solar power and not recreating the sun in a science lab, its far to dangerous. |

I hope that some day we will start using cleaner energy like solar and wind. I went to a baseball stadium in Cleveland and they powered their TV's by solar power. I think that is a good start to have a place like a sport arena using cleaner energy. |

Humans are a gluttonous species. Once we got our hands on an efficient energy source, we would immediately deplete it. Coal, oil, natural gas, lumber, all of these are being used faster than they can be replenished. I realize that air and solar energy are both essentially infinite, however once we master the ability to hone it, what is to stop us from finding the source and bleeding it dry? |

Oh damn. I just watched my classmates debate about nuclear energy. The current policy resolution is about alternative energy sources. There's a type of nuclear reactor RFI or maybe it's FRI. But they use the nuclear waste to power the reactor itself. It's a rad concept. And in this months issue of PopSci, it talks about harnessing the energy of the ocean. I don't feel like running upstairs to get the magazine, but it's cool stuff. I'm sure if you google "CETO" and something like ocean energy you'd find it. Some big oil baron is turning to energy from the ocean. |

I've read the article your talking about Tomo. i think. or one like it. essentially it talks about the oceans currents, especially closer to shore. It talks about putting huge turbines in the currents and letting the ocean to the rest. What do you all think about this??? I think that we should try to rely more on solar and wind. Hydro and geo thermal are good to. Im for what ever is cheapest, cleanest and esentially infinite. although i agree that its possible (knowing humans)that wind would eventually be depleted if we became to reliant on it. I think it would be cool to get energy from solar winds. don't know how or if its even probable but it would be cool. |

Well, wind is currently the leader in alternative energy, but conditions are only good enough ~50% of the time. But the ocean always has good conditions because it will be on the seafloor. And solar isn't cost-effective enough for a large scale project yet. I'm pretty stoked on this "new" idea. CETO Wiki
