Congatulations!!! :)
@diskotech: I am happy that a Greek person is selected! Hope I ll have a positive answer too..

Good luck to all of us who are waiting!! Are any people here applied for architectural placements?
Hi!

I applied for an architectural placement. Two days ago the center sended me an email to say I can't go to my first two choices, but they sended my file and the one from someone else to another architectural office that seems interested...

Hi Eva!
I don`t have any news from the centre the last three weeks, so I hope they sent my file to one of my two choices.

Good luck to you too!

I have a question to people who have been already accepted. What is "e-mail stating your agreement" ? Is there any form or should we write just some words from ourselves?
I don't think this needs to be formal
Just send an e-mail to Ms Rosada where you say you agree to participate in the Vulcanus programme.
This is what I did ^^

I think it's just for the centre to see that you've received the e-mail. I would say the formal confirmation of participation is the fax.

diskotech is 26.4
Andrea/someone_unknown (will be clear after interview) on 8, so I believe one position at 8 is filled.
Yes, I'm on #8. The email with the request for phone interview was addressed to me and to another Italian guy; we are from the same university, even though I don't know him personally.
I think they don't want both of us just so they don't have 2 Italians together; I guess the other 1-2 places are already assigned, if they actually take more than one person.
Or maybe if the interviews turn out bad they'll take someone else...

Anyway, it's Golden Week now... So we just need to relax before the final showdown. But I'm still sooo nervous about my phone interview.
Do you think it will be a technical/scientific talk or just an informal chat to see how good I am in English, what kind of person I am, stuff like that....?

Guess this is my longest post. I'll end with my CONGRATULATIONS to all the selected!!!!

background reading always helps.
learn who the company fully are. background research.
try their website, wikipedia, news articles, where they are involved.
maybe new exciting projects that company have initiated that you feel passionate about.

Also, keep in mind that they are probably going to be basing questions based on your application letter. So re-read it several times, pick out parts they might ask about, and work on them. If you've discussed an experience at work, or a certain hobby, make sure you can elaborate on it.

Whatever your English is like, I doubt you can improve on it by the interview so just improve on your external knowledge instead. Also, if you're already this far in the application, I hope you have a certain level of technical and scientific background on your field.

Just sound strong. It's easier on the phone than in person.

Good luck.

Btw, does Golden week start monday or today? Is there any chance of news today?

Showa day was yesterday and today is to my knowledge a regular day, but many people will probably have taken today off since 3-5 May are also holidays and there is a weekend in between.

(EDIT) I was trying to quote Andrea and I quoted someone else. (EDIT)

Hi there,

I´ve made a phone interview not for vulcanus but for a big multinational corporation.
The questions:

1-Why this particular company?
2-My profile and the program I chose in that particular company?
3-My International experience, what I took from it?
4-1 year abroad, what do you and your friends and family feel about this?

These were basically the questions they asked. But this a different program with different objectives. They will probably also want to know why your interest about Japan and so on... Regarding technical questions I have no idea, but I don´t think they would enter to the world of details.

The searches previously suggested are mandatory. Also I would suggest to search for more phone interviews.

Good luck!

Thanks, I think they're going to ask this kind of questions. Better be ready. I had the chance to do a simulation of an interview like this, but in French (I'm studying in Liège now) and with someone in front of me. I managed to do it, and quite easily. Hope everything will go smoothly!
Thanks again!

Ok so for hitachi people :

People received positive answers for :

3.3
3.7
3.10

I think that selected people received all already an email, so for the rest of us waiting for hitachi and still having no news , there is small chances...

We can only maybe expect that the center didn't send all the answers, since 3.7 and 3.10 were received yesterday and 3.3 today ! We will see next week !

Although it was my second choice, 3.1 was assigned to me by the centre.
There is a small chance, true, because there are only 53 members out of 100+ registered on the website. We don't know about other Hitachi appliers.

Fingers crossed nevertheless. Did you have another choice?

I applied to 3.6, and I feel kind of anxious about it... :P
