I agree with you. This is really worrying not to know if the centre has properly received the e-mails, faxes and physical mail since they refuse to send any kind of confirmation. I know we really are many applicants, but just a short (even automatically generated) confirmation e-mail would be a real plus. As for many applicants (I guess), the last time I heard from the centre was when they told me to send the motivation letters and the fax after the shortlisting. |

I think your question can easily be answered. If you have a look at here: http://s1.zetaboards.com/vulcanus2010/topic/2816657/2/ You can see that Andrea studies chemical engineering. Unless he wants to try something really new, I don't think he's going to apply for placement 3.8 ^^ |

good luck andrea!! About the confirmation of the received material... i think there's no problem with that because if there's a problem i think they will send an e-mail notifying the problem and requesting the document... i had a problem with the certificate of enrolment and in the e-mail saying that i was shot-listed they requested that document again. so if they didn't said anything until now.. i think there's no problem

Mmh! Nice! I didn't remember that old post! Anyway, let's end up with the "mistery". My placement should be #8, matching suggested from the center. Thanks for all the encouraging messages! |

Number 8? Mhh this is bad for me then. That was the suggestion the centre made to me and I applied for it as well.... :/ Although I must say we have completely different specialities (I study telecommunications) and the company apparently offers a multidisciplinary project and can take up to 3 students. Maybe they've already decided which electrical/mechanical engineering students to take in but are still deciding which applicant in chemical engineering they want.... @scrts: you applied for no.8 as well, right? Has anyone from the centre contacted you yet? |

Mmh, I don't know what to think. But your profile (telecommunications) is what they (apparently) look for; they should take a mechanical, an electrical and an information/communications engineer. Not a chemical... that's why I found this matching strange. Also because other placements are more suitable for chemical engineers, like 5, 6, 18 or 24, and I applied for #18 as second choice... Anyway, they are considering my profile since they sent me an email. Or maybe they just want to tell me "you're a looooser". Kidding of course Good luck to you as well! |

Oh, so many posts today. I just want to reply to the lack of feedback of the center regarding the documents with my own story. (Previously in ... ) The center contacted me and 3 other applicants 3 weeks ago because the company we applied to had requested more information. We were told to send the documents directly to the Tokyo office, not in Brussel. (I have already written that in another topic)Last week I recieved a call from Ms Rosada (Second call in two months, i must be a lucky guy , I even have the center phone number in my mobile phone address book now), she asked me if I had sent the documents (I did it one week earlier actually as the deadline was very short) and asked me to send them again (directly to her) because the person in charge in Tokyo was sick and the files were stuck in her mailbox. This time I asked Ms Rosada an acknowledge (that she did during the next hour). The people from the center are doing the best they can (and they do it quite well), it's just that as the stress is rising we are becoming quite ... paranoid. Edited by GenGis_K, 28 Apr 2010, 18:23.

Hm, You telecommunications, I am studying electronics Should be nothing similar to the company I applied, but I have experience in this field Anyway, no news here. Did they have to announce if they have moved me for the placement I also offered? Anyway, I am calm, nothing to be hurry for ![]() And also, be patient Manu, afaik there could be up to 3 applicants, so we both could join Andrea Expect nothing - it will be more easy to wait Good luck.

Huhu thanks for the news scrts ^^ I'm relieved I'm not the only one in that situation ![]() I think if they had moved you to the other placement, they would have contacted you a while ago (they haven't contacted me either, for that matter). Hence I think our files have both been sent to no.8. You're right, we need to be patient ![]() Good luck to you as well! |

uhm, so if they move you to your second choice the centre contacts you, or I misunderstood? o-o Until now zero communications from the centre to me. The last was the mail that said I was short-listed! |

Yes, they would have informed you. This is a quote from the document you sent them by fax.
And they called me to ask if I was OK to send my second choice. |

Hm, do they inform if You're not selected by the company? |

Normally they should. However, if you're not selected the communication would probably come later, since their priority is to contact the lucky participants. Two friends of mine passed short-listing last year but they weren't selected. The centre informed them at the end of May. |

I'm not so sure about the delay in providing the negative answers. Last year I received my negative answer on the 30 of April. (Am I going to last in the game a bit longer this year ? ) And last year someone asked the center about that:

Right then Even if there are "same level" persons, phone interview would be really fair right?

I guess the negative answers that come right at the end of May are those from the companies which don't reply after the centre sends the motivation letters. The centre might then consider the companies take too long to give an answer and cancel their placements.

Guess you're right. It all depends on the companies... How lazy they are!

Okay, let's start another week of intense waiting. What can we expect ? Maybe (maybe) a few positive answers on Monday if some companies answered last Friday and the center hasn't had enough time to process them the same day. (Yeay lot of conditional in a single sentence )On Tuesday and Wednesday: Nothing except the negatives answers corresponding to the already filled positions. On Thursday and Friday it will most likely be show time. (I will be looking for any incoming email every 5 minutes and my productivity will be reduced down to zero )To Andrea: Is your phone call scheduled this week or the one after ? (early in the morning ?) I've talked to japanese people on Friday at work, they have a pretty cool rule there: If a Holiday is on Saturday or Sunday, it is postponed to the next Monday.

Just when I thought I could sit back and relax, knowing something might not come for a week, I read this post. Now I'm freaking out about tomorrow again! Increased heart rate time. |
