| Warm, soothing goo surrounds your body. It's so hard to move, and impossible to think. You may not realize it yet, but you have been selected for the Crew of the Vesmir. Oh, sure, you may not be capable of anything good or wholesome, and fine, you not even know what space is, but that doesn't matter to your moon-sized captor. You have been chosen, stolen from the only home you have known, and are now forced to suffer the indignities only a ship of kobolds can provide. Perhaps it's not as serious as all that. Somewhere between the crystal spheres and the endless void of space drifts a giant, living, silent ship. The Vesmir. Home. Once you log in, this annoying block of text goes away: |

Name: AMI-PD201, answers to ‘Amy’ Race/Specie/Ethnicity/Bloodline/Beinghood: Predator Drone Robot turned Nanny Age/DOB: 13 years old Gender: Female Home Planet: Minshen, fourth planet in the Gagarin system Height: 3”5 Weight/Shape: 100 pounds Hair/Scales/Plumage/Dangly Parts: Little bob molded at the head, pixellated lips Eyes or other important sensory apparati: 2, plastic, fairly cheap, but pretty I think. Skin: metallic, a little beaten, but pretty good-looking considering eight years of combat Other Important Features: Propellers enable flight, when not in use form ‘skirt’ Physical Description: Not a humanoid android, but an anthropomorphic robot. A bit rusty and dented up, but in pretty good condition and a sweet voice that sounds something like Apple MacinTalk meets the girl next door (although sounds a lot less personable during combat). Moves primarily by floating, leaving a trail of blue lasers behind, with a bit of a swish to mimic female humanoids. Image can be found here Personality: Since Amy began life as a predator drone robot during a massive war on Minshen, any form of personality programming was minimal at best. What she did have was a ruthless sense of precision, blind faith in her cause and a violent hatred of anyone who dared oppose that notion. After the war was over and she was reprogrammed to become a nanny robot, she was instilled kindness, amiability and a slavish desire to make people happy. Unfortunately, the reprogramming was sloppily done, so given the right circumstances, Amy will revert back to her former self. Once she snaps out of it, she’ll act overly apologetic and offer to bake cookies to make up for nearly blowing up your house. In other words, she is the robot equivalent to bipolar and also prone to flashbacks; leaving a slight depressive sense. Interests/Likes/Dislikes: Amy loves pretty much anything that involves precision, so that would mean puzzles, engineering, collecting data, knitting and baking. When not angry, she loves being with humanoids, especially children. She wants to essentially forget that she was involved in major conflict and killed thousands of people; and move on to a better place in society; and to try to fix the more destructive aspects of her personality. Therefore, she hates reminders of violence and hatred. Abilties, Powers, Skills, Weaknesses: Can fly and shoot laser guns, as well as being able to repair damaged robots and electronics. Is also able to upload data either to store information she can later use or to transfer to other units. Otherwise, is essentially a robotic Martha Stewart who can keep houses clean, cook and make sure the kids are doing their homework. Since she is solar powered, she needs to be near a source of light. A few cues (such as some keywords, red flashing lights) will trigger the terminator-like personality and she’ll go on autopilot; not stopping until someone can manually shut her off and restart. Needs some polishing occasionally. Home: Minshen, Amy’s home planet, was settled by colonists from Earth several centuries before and has developed to consist primarily of quasi-independent city-states reminiscent of Renaissance Italy and the Classic Mayan period who rally around the protection and power of a select few (i.e. a TON of political intrigue). A succession dispute between two brothers within one of the city-states led to an eight-year-long war that embroiled multiple city-states and left millions dead. Currently Minshen is working to rebuilding itself, among it’s incentives being the reprogramming of military robots for civilian services in a response to lack of manpower (hence why Amy was reprogrammed). Items: A rubix cube that a child from the family that Amy was working for gave to her; holds sentimental value. |

“It’s best to look on the bright side of life. The sun will always come out tomorrow. Tomorrow is another day.” Ami-PD201, who preferred to be referred to as ‘Amy’, furiously ran every possible string of humanoid philosophy on how to confront adversity through her memory circuits. Even if she managed to process a few hundred of them per second, she was finding it quite difficult to turn that smile into a frown. After all, Amy was being charged with committing an act of terrorism and standing before a Grand Jury who had yet to reach a conclusion. Not to mention, the verdict was to be reached that day. Amy still did not understand how life could have taken such a horrible turn. Yes, as a predator drone-type robot during the Minshen Civil War, she was indeed responsible for helping destroy over 2,000 villages, towns and military barracks; as the prosecution had pointed out 36.5 times throughout the trial. But hadn’t she changed? Hadn’t she gotten a reprogramming just like her surviving comrades? TED-PD337 had personally bombed that schoolhouse in Cayello; yet today he was making a living as a sanitation worker. LU-PD752 was granted the nickname ‘0111010110’ (‘butcher who enjoys seeing humanoids crying for mercy’) among other predator drones, but now she was, of all things, a nurse at a respected hospital! Admittedly, Amy knew she didn’t have a clean record either, but she still could not grasp why she was the one on trial. She blamed it all on that greasy engineer who reprogrammed her five years ago. After 45% of the humanoid population of Minshen perished from war, disease and hunger during the eight years of the Civil War, the Senate declared that all former combat robots were to be reprogrammed to serve civilian functions rather than be used for scrap metal. The effort was so massive that the authorities were bound to enlist the help of any humanoid who could vaguely distinguish a CPU from his elbow. Although Amy had been reprogrammed to be a nanny robot, the engineer was to say the least, unskilled at his craft (verified by the Defense Attorney). Even though she had been placed with a loving humanoid family with adorable children that she enjoyed tending to, every flashing red light would immediately mean a revert back to Amy 1.0. Thankfully, the sound of a child’s voice crying ‘Please stop doing bad things, nanny Amy! We love you!’ was enough to stop her most of the time. Until five months ago. It was a quiet summer day that seemed just like any other. Amy was supposed to buy some groceries at the market for dinner that night and pick up Steve from swim practice. All was well until a grimy street bum approached her in the street. “Say, ain’t you one of them predator drones? You wiped out my whole squadron!”. Amy had tried to hover away, but the bum continued to pursue the issue and a few passerby joined in the taunts and jeers. It did not help that she had indeed been a predator drone, let alone being placed in a town that happened to be on the winning side of the War (Amy’s had lost). What happened next remained missing from her memory circuits. But, it ended with her deploying a laser bomb, reducing the entire marketplace into a pile of ashes and being led away by the police. The trial had dragged on for the next five months. Although Amy had spent the entire time in solitary confinement without any visitation rights, she was still able to tell from intercepted satellite transmissions that her trial had captivated Minshen. It had forced humanoids to question the new role of robots in a post-war society, with professors trying to make arguments for the robots ‘humanity’ and journalists expressing anger that no robots were on the Grand Jury. The only thing that really mattered to Amy was where her family was. Thankfully they had not been killed in the blast, but she could tell that they missed her greatly. Now, the day had finally come. A verdict had been reached. Amy began to experience ‘nervousness’. “We find the Defendant, AMI-PD201, guilty of all charges.” Instead of being sent to the incinerator, Amy was to be banished to the lunarian mines the next day (where the prince whose rightful place to the throne she had tried to defend was also banished). As ship sailed through space, Amy decided to get to know her fellow robot inmates. Among them were NAN-AI746, a teacher caught disseminating pro-separatist propaganda to her class; RAN-FD543, a worker in a soup factory who knowingly laced his products with cyanide and WEH-YL450 (who went by 'O'Malley'), a bootlegger, assassin, pimp and one of the greatest robot mob bosses on Minshen. As the inmates swapped stories amongst each other, a frightened voice began to shout over the intercom ‘Evacuate ship! Evacuate ship!’. That was the last thing Amy remembered before slipping into darkness. Edited by Ami_robot, Oct 12 2008, 05:34 PM.
