Warm, soothing goo surrounds your body. It's so hard to move, and impossible to think. You may not realize it yet, but you have been selected for the Crew of the Vesmir.

Oh, sure, you may not be capable of anything good or wholesome, and fine, you not even know what space is, but that doesn't matter to your moon-sized captor. You have been chosen, stolen from the only home you have known, and are now forced to suffer the indignities only a ship of kobolds can provide.

Perhaps it's not as serious as all that.

Somewhere between the crystal spheres and the endless void of space drifts a giant, living, silent ship. The Vesmir. Home.

* Setting - The room in front of them is low, and slopes downwards to a big black wall. There are only the tiniest hints of lights, and all around them, panels, seats, and control boards are arranged in loose configurations..
* Setting - The room is covered in dust, and it's VERY VERY obvious no one has been here. Despite this, the air is thickly fragrant, almost floral and heady, and burningly alive. A perception check will reveal more..
* Eugen_Metzger (~Tastic@c-71-232-92-199.hsd1.ma.comcast.net) Quit (Ping timeout)
<eugen_metz> roll 1d10+1d10
<Random_Chance> eugen_metz rolled 1d10+1d10 --> [ 1d10=7 1d10=5 ]{12}
* Climbs_Ladders The panels have single seats with smooth, curved lines in front of them and appear to have been designed for a single humanoid to be stationed at each one. There are numerous console and panel designs however, and a dizzying array of interface devices available.
<eugen_metz> ((I assume our dryad friend is here))
<Heart> roll 1d10+1d10 to notice things amidst the dust
<Random_Chance> Heart rolled 1d10+1d10 to notice things amidst the dust --> [ 1d10=3 1d10=8 ]{11}
<Qadr> roll 1d10+1d10 to see stuff
<Random_Chance> Qadr rolled 1d10+1d10 to see stuff --> [ 1d10=9 1d10=3 ]{12}
<eugen_metz> Careful, live wires around here
* Qadr moved to the end of the elevator, and then carefully stepped inside. "It doesn't look wrecked, though."
<Heart> Yeah, just looks like it's been abandoned.
* Climbs_Ladders tries to step forwards... And then keeps trying. "Erm... Climbs Ladders is having slight problem moving... erm... into room, yes?"
* Climbs_Ladders does an impressive job of imitating Mime near the elevator doors. He looks to be straining against an invisible wall like a pro.
* Setting - As Eugen tries to leave, he finds his leg and arm held back, fast and hard. No matter how he struggles, Sss and Mime cannot pass over the threshold. This seems to confuse Sss, who climbs higher, freezing more of the doctor's body in the lurch. Mime legs go and sulks int he corner, giving the doctor his arm back.
* Heart tries to step out of the elevator, holding her hands in front of her.
<eugen_metz> Oh, maybe its a focre field or something hitech and sci fi like that?
* Setting - Mime looks angry and jealous. "Mime. :x"
* Qadr reaches down to try and help Climbs Ladders.
<Heart> Huh. Maybe it's crew only?
<eugen_metz> Mime, I don't think he's doinmg it.
* Climbs_Ladders pushes and grunts and struggles with the wall of nothingness stopping him getting into the bridge while the others can walk in freely.
<Qadr> It must be. I wonder if it means spiders can't get in here either.
* Heart steps through, and walks down towards the screen at the far end of the room. "Let's hope so."
<Climbs_Ladders> Stupid doors! Should be being able to see doors, that is what makes them... doors.
<Heart> roll 1d10+1d10 to examine things by the big screen.
<Random_Chance> Heart rolled 1d10+1d10 to examine things by the big screen. --> [ 1d10=5 1d10=6 ]{11}
<Qadr> [Will not make door and window jokes.]
<Heart> (Door and window jokes?)
<Qadr> [Making a better door then a window, ect.]
* Setting - At the end of the room, Heart spies some slow forms along the ground. Shapes, yes, there are are two of them, two red suited bodies, no skeletons, with long heads and tails, no bigger than an eight year old child. both of them have familiarly sharp and small pointy teeth.
* Qadr looks at the open panels.
<Heart> Hey, Doc, might need your help over here.
* Heart kneels down by the bodies to examine them closer.
* eugen_metz peers at the bodies and moves closer,"yes?"
* Delta_4_h4Xx rubs her red eyes a bit, it looks like she's been staring at computer screens for entirely too may days. In a row. With minimum sleep. She doesn't even notice a gecko tail partially covering one of her eyes since Pi is undoubtedly glued to her face
* Setting - Eugen moves over to the bodies after getting rid of a now confused Ssss. it walks around and around the elevator in circles, making soft noises and freaking out.
* Setting - Delta has no trouble entering the room, even with Pi.
<Delta_4_h4Xx> roll 1d10+1d10 to see things and liven up sans Powerthirst
<Random_Chance> Delta_4_h4Xx rolled 1d10+1d10 to see things and liven up sans Powerthirst --> [ 1d10=5 1d10=5 ]{10}
<eugen_metz> roll 1d10+1d10 to see if there's anything odd with the bodies.
<Random_Chance> eugen_metz rolled 1d10+1d10 to see if there's anything odd with the bodies. --> [ 1d10=6 1d10=6 ]{12}
<eugen_metz> ((double sixes!))
* Climbs_Ladders Q can see some of the panels in the room have been taken off their mountings and some circuitry is now on display. Two of them in particular have been heavily altered and have wires and cables soldered onto the circuits in a very crude looking way. It is hard to tell what they were originally for in their current state
<eugen_metz> These corpses are too old for me to determine much other than the fact that they were Kobold. How odd.
<Delta_4_h4Xx> Oh! Cool! *looks pleased as she ignores icky once-fleshy stuff and goes over to wired things*
<Heart> Huh. Wonder how they got in here, if the door won't let nobody but crew in.
* Qadr (~chatzilla@c-24-34-181-68.hsd1.ma.comcast.net) Quit (Read error: EOF from client)
* Qadr (~chatzilla@c-24-34-181-68.hsd1.ma.comcast.net) has joined #vesmir
<Qadr> [oi. Firefox fail. What did I miss?]
* Climbs_Ladders jumps up and attempts to see into the bridge. He cannot manage to see the bodies that Eugene is talking about though, so naturally falls back to a default worried, panicking state. He joins Ssssssss in wandering around in circles in the elevator, much like a trapped wild animal.
<eugen_metz> They must have been crew at some point in time.
<Qadr> Maybe they were crew, once upon a time.
* eugen_metz stares
<Delta_4_h4Xx> roll 1d10+1d10 to look at electronicky goodness, gecko still on face
<Random_Chance> Delta_4_h4Xx rolled 1d10+1d10 to look at electronicky goodness, gecko still on face --> [ 1d10=7 1d10=4 ]{11}
<eugen_metz> Climbs, stop making such a ruckus.
* Setting - If it helps, the bodies are clutching each other like lovers. :3
* eugen_metz frowns. Kobolds. Ugh.
* Qadr goes to look at the Kobolds. "Maybe they bred, and the new batch weren't crew. Chosen and all that rot."
* Climbs_Ladders doesn't really stop doing anything at Eugen's urgings. Pacing around and around is pretty much all he has to do at the moment. Other than terror, that is.
<eugen_metz> You'd think they'd just sterilize us since the ship just kidnaps who ever it wants.
* Heart carefully untangles the two bodies from each other and checks their arms for crew implants.
* Setting - Ssss climbs up the kobold and looks around, before scaling down. "Sss?"
* Setting - Heart is rewarded with not one, but two matched on purple implants, one on each wrist.
<Heart> Don't see why the ship'd do that. This place is huge- musta been lotsa people and families here once.
* Setting - Observant .. observers will notice the purple attatchments are bound by think filaments to the bone, and run up the arm, under the suit.
* Qadr kneels down and touches the suit of one carefully, pulling p the sleeve.
* Setting - The cords go all the way up, and eventually disappear into the skull. Groovy.
* Delta_4_h4Xx sees crude soldering job on panels and gasps "Oh, oh no. Poor baby." Pets the panel in what be soothing or reassuring to something not flat and unfeeling, and looks/feels for a usb input
* Heart takes off her hat out of respect for the dead.
* Setting - Delta finds the USB input easily. :3
<Heart> Well. Guess there ain't no easy way to get those things outta our arms- or anyone else's arm.
* Delta_4_h4Xx plugs in time!
<eugen_metz> Hrm, looks like it would be too complicated for me to surgially remove them.
* Setting - The lights turn on, the screens flicker to dusty life. Delta has awoken the bridge.
<eugen_metz> Possible, but, very very tricky and delicate.
<Heart> Yeah? That's good to know, Doc.
* Delta_4_h4Xx proudly exclaims "Let there be light!"
<Qadr> It makes me wonder how that plan of the bitch's would work. What happens if we try to get off the ship? How does she know we don't need it as much as it needs us?
* Qadr blinks in the sudden light.
<Heart> I don't think she does. You ask me, she's gone batshit.
<eugen_metz> Conjecture, most likely. I suppose it might be possible for on's body to reject the implants.
* Heart waves to Delta. "Thanks, Miss Delta!"
<Delta_4_h4Xx> Hi! Shit guys, this thing is...loaded
<eugen_metz> I think, one way or another, I should wish to try and remove one of these devices. If we find a body in good enough condition, please notify me. I can attempt an extraction , and then we can bury the body...in the...ship?
* eugen_metz is unsure of the logistics.
* Qadr thinks, tapping her fingers on her chin where her scars once were. Her hands run up and down the area as she considers.
<Heart> I ain't fond of the idea of you cuttin' up a fellow crew member, but you gotta do what you gotta do.
* Heart frowns, conflicted.
<Heart> We should bring these two back down with us- even if you can't learn nothin' useful off the bodies, we can give 'em a burial at the Kobold village.
<Delta_4_h4Xx> cutting up a who what?
* Delta_4_h4Xx completely oblivious to goings on
<Heart> Got some bodies of the crew over here. What you got up there with the computers, Miss D?
<eugen_metz> An autopsy.
* Setting - The screens on the control panels are flickering to life. The entire wall behind Delta lights up, with dozens and dozens of charts, labels, colors, numbers, maps..
<eugen_metz> I promise you that I will do my utmost to treat the corpse with respect. You may think little of me, but I have standards, and I am a professional.
<Qadr> We need to know, Heart. We just do.
<Heart> Naw, I know you'd be respectful and all, Doc, I just get kinda wigged by dead bodies is all.
* Climbs_Ladders Q's attention is caught by something on the edge of one of the chairs in the middle of the bridge, likely where the higher ranked staff would sit, it looks like a small, square flat screen with text scrolling down it. Basically an electornic book that has been left open at some random page.
* Heart rubs the back of her neck, vaguely embarrassed.
* Delta_4_h4Xx makes a face at the mention on bodies and prods some things, kind of hoping everything will lurch this way or that...but is sad
<Heart> Specially when they're bodies o' people who coulda been me, you know? Ah, never mind. Don't worry about it. Like I said, you do what you gotta do.
<eugen_metz> I can understand that. The first few years of my praktikum and in the field, I too shied from the dead.
* Qadr moves over to the chairs and kneels before the screen, trying to read it.
* Qadr sits in the chair and blinks, the symbols being translated into her brain as some sort of log filled with dates. Her hands move over it as she reads quickly, finding graphs and tables. "Guys," she says after a minute. "I think I found a log of some sort." She rolls her finger up, trying to find the latter dates.
* Setting - Delta appears to be in a version of heaven, drowning blissfully in tabs and hacking. Meanwhile, Sss has begun scaling the walls, and Mime is actually pushing against the invisible wall, looking less angry and more pleased.
* Setting - Hey, hey guys. The Mime is trapped in a box.
* eugen_metz turns back to the elevator, "Mime, Ssss, behave yourselves."
* Delta_4_h4Xx pokes at a terminal beside her and looks at the map change
* Setting - The screen behind dealt begins to fill with maps, bright lines on the black surface detailing places the crew have visited.
* Setting - The bridge appears, from above and as a side view. Red dots delineate the crew.
* Setting - Elsewhere on the maps, black-blue dots glow, denoting the spiders. Like the cloud of probibility for an electron, the dots are fuzzy, the ship seems to have trouble accessing these spots.
<Delta_4_h4Xx> Um, guys...take a peek at this map I pulled up
* eugen_metz walks up and gazes at the map
* Heart goes over to take a peek.
* Qadr is busy reading.
<Qadr> Hey guys.
<Qadr> You... you need to hear this. *Her voice is soft, and there's a hesitancy in it as she looks to them.*Especially you, Doctor
<Delta_4_h4Xx> so. These are places we've seen, we are here *points to red dots and does a little hand gesture to indicate red=red jumpsuits* and this is an approximation of baddies. maybe not a good one
<eugen_metz> What is it q?
* Qadr clears her throat a little before starting. "This is some kind of offical ship log. The last entry in it is as follows: "The technicians' reports say they could have been close. Perhaps a few more days, maybe only hours and we could have had it. Haven't heard from lab 5 in six hours now. Probably too late to make the vaccine even if it did work. Time for us to give up our post at last."
<eugen_metz> Vaccine? If there was a pathogen, it's likely been dormant or dead for some time. *he sighs angrily* This ship is a pile of shit. Himmel, arsch, und zwirn!
* Delta_4_h4Xx grumbles something in defense of ship and putting it back together
<eugen_metz> *sits down* Oh well.
* Qadr keeps sitting silently in the chair.
<eugen_metz> I can't do anything without a large number of researchers, and I'm no pathologist.
<Heart> Q...does it say what kinda disease it was?
* Qadr scrolls up and looks.
<Qadr> Not right here, there's... it's like reading a medical text book. All of this info jammed together at once.
<Qadr> roll 1d10+1d10 to see if a randomly lucky scroll works
<Random_Chance> Qadr rolled 1d10+1d10 to see if a randomly lucky scroll works --> [ 1d10=3 1d10=9 ]{12}
* Qadr eyes are drawn to a random page and she swallows a bit before she reads. "Intense rioting in plaza shopping district. Tens, maybe hundreds of possible casualties. What happened here?"
* Setting - And with another button press, the undisturbed Delta causes the screen at the front of the room to shiver and change, much like the ceilings in the Alcove. Suddenly, there is a sense of SPACE.. And the stars, the universe, is visible, seeing millions of stars, the closest things inch closer, closer.. It's beautiful.
* Delta_4_h4Xx suddenly, excitedly she recalls some oldmeme. Something that must be tried. Almost bursting with excitement, she turns to the front of the bridge and shouts loudly: "MAIN SCREEN TURN ON!"
* Setting - And then a spider walks across the screen, but it doesn't stop or even look at you.
* Delta_4_h4Xx grumbles about spiders setting us up the bomb
* Heart frowns thoughtfully and rubs the back of her neck.
<Heart> Okay. So somethin terrible happened a while back, and there was some kinda disease, and rioting and people dying.
<Heart> And now it's just us, and the spiders.
<eugen_metz> Societal collapse. Oh well
<Qadr> And the crazy bitch.
<Heart> I mean- what I wanna know is, how come that map shows the spiders?
<Delta_4_h4Xx> well, it shows some...not all. an approximation of spiders
<Heart> And not all the kobolds and the slug people and whatever else? Just- crew...and spiders.
<Qadr> Maybe the spiders were crew,
<Delta_4_h4Xx> well that's what I asked it to show...let's see *taps on things to see if kolbolds can appear*
* Setting - Kobolds do, as green dots. Slugs do, as yellow ones, slowly littering the plaza floor.
<Delta_4_h4Xx> See, there you go. Any other life forms you want to0 know the whereabouts of?
<Qadr> Can we find the crazy spider lady personally?
<Heart> Huh. Can it show specific people? Like, where's Yeriv right now?
* Setting - Delta is notified that Yeriv cannot be found, or if so, she'd be a spider dot.
<eugen_metz> ((I need to get to bed, I have work in the morning and I need to work out))
<eugen_metz> ((sorry))
* Setting - Robots appear in silver. The plaza floor is covered with them, as are other spots of the ship. There is one bright dot high on the plaza. There is a blueish black dot near it, almost overlapping with it. After a few minutes, the black dot disappears.
<Setting> (S'ok we're gonan end it in a mo.)
<eugen_metz> Hrm this map is fairly useful
<eugen_metz> (okay)
* Delta_4_h4Xx shudders a little. "Tells me nope, unless you want a spider"
<Delta_4_h4Xx> Oh yay! Whacked another one!
<Setting> (BONK. :3)
<Heart> Hell yeah, Miss Greta!
<Qadr> Medusa, can you interface with this stuff to learn what it knows?
<Setting> MEDUSA lacks the physical connection.
<Setting> *pause, and the voice softens, becoming almost human* Mommy can make the connections, right Mommy?
<Delta_4_h4Xx> (squeeeee...)
* Delta_4_h4Xx blinks, not having entirely expected to hear Medusa's voice, but she nods before she responds
* Setting - MEDUSA is where the crew is.
<Delta_4_h4Xx> Of course mommy can do that. Mommy will fix it dear
<Setting> (Shall we end with you guys on the bridge in the creepiest thing ever?)
<Heart> (sure!)
<Setting> ENDO
<Climbs_Ladders> (( I vote yes, becuase I'm so creeped out))
<eugen_metz> ((I don't see whats creepy))
<Setting> ( :3 )
<Setting> I don't think it's that creepy.
<Setting> But I know what it is.
<Setting> MEDUSA is very.. complex.
<Heart> if by complex you mean 'creepy', yes
<Heart> or if by 'complex' you mean 'awesome', also yes
