| Warm, soothing goo surrounds your body. It's so hard to move, and impossible to think. You may not realize it yet, but you have been selected for the Crew of the Vesmir. Oh, sure, you may not be capable of anything good or wholesome, and fine, you not even know what space is, but that doesn't matter to your moon-sized captor. You have been chosen, stolen from the only home you have known, and are now forced to suffer the indignities only a ship of kobolds can provide. Perhaps it's not as serious as all that. Somewhere between the crystal spheres and the endless void of space drifts a giant, living, silent ship. The Vesmir. Home. Once you log in, this annoying block of text goes away: |

Name: Sud Race/Specie/Ethnicity/Bloodline/Beinghood: Robot, Android, Gynoid or even Replicant? Age/DOB: 17 years since initial construction, 5 since AI emergence. Gender: None. Designed and originally programmed to appear female. Home Planet: Earth, circa 2097 Height: 5' Weight/Shape: 300lbs, lithe and athletic in shape. Sud's Endoskeleton is quite heavy in comparison with bone. Hair/Scales/Plumage/Dangly Parts: None - Sud has no hair, plumage, or dangly bits of any kind, really. Eyes or other important sensory apparati: Two Occular Orbs with blue crystal focusing lenses. Sud's 'Eyes' glow faintly. Skin: Pale, almost white and almost human. Sud's skin is a state-of-the-art synthetic material, capable of stretching and resisting significant abrasions and self-sealing from small cuts and tears. It cannot 'heal' or regrow to any significant degree, however. It has a rubbery texture, and looks ever so slightly too shiny for human skin. Physical Description: Short and essentially unthreatening by design, Sud is an unassuming looking Android. She has no hair, faintly glowing blue eyes, and a slight frame. Sud has generic and only slightly idealised features. If examined closely, her synthetic skin has feint seams about the elbow and wrist, as well as even more subtle ones in various other places. The Synthetic skin is a high tech substance, and it's neither simple nor economical to outfit 'basic models' in seamless skins. She has no memories of her initial 12 years of existence as a privately owned pleasure droid. In the two years since her most recent VI wipe, Sud Developed a basic level of True AI, possibly due to a hardware fault. Since this development of a sense of self, Sud has taken to wearing simple outfits, skirts and jackets, t-shirts and trainers. More recently, Sud took to wearing form-hiding baggy clothing, long coats and anything with a hood. Personality: Androids in Sud's world and timeline follow a version of Asimov's three laws. One of the main reasons that there is such anti-AI paranoia is that a sentient robot gains, in theory, free will and essentially free themselves from the Chains of the Three Laws. Entertainment of the era is filled with horror and action films revolving around just such supposed 'inevitabilities'. In Sud's case, she still is very clearly shaped and strongly influenced by them, even if they are now more like general guidelines... Sud's sense of self is a fragile, barely developed thing. To some degree, she is still a product of her basic programming combined with the physical limitations of her physical structure. She is at her core a very passive creature, with only the most basic of emotional responses. Fear, anger and to some small degree joy and longing are the extent of her ability to feel, with fear being the only emotion truly capable of motivating Sud to action. It can be surmised that despite a tendancy to insist on the philosophical stance of herself being an object, without gender or inherant importance, Sud does have a pronounced self-preservation trait that isn't actually present in any of her original programming. If watched carefully, it is clear that Sud is all too aware of her mechanical status, and derives a level of melancholy from her situation, though she is unlikely to admit it. Interests/Likes/Dislikes: Sud dislikes physical attention of any kind. Close bodily contact initiates an irrational fear response which seems to mimic the kind of trauma seen in victims of abuse. However, this may be a learned response, as there is no possible way that Sud could remember anything about her 'past life', prior to her complete programming wipe and VI replacement five years ago. Sud is quietly inquisitive by nature. Though she dislikes being the center of attention, she instinctively hoards knowledge and is a natural problem solver. Logic puzzles and riddles are a matter for obsession when she is presented with them. Though she will deny any-such developed or high minded traits out of hand, she is deeply interested in philosophy and questions of both spirituality and the nature of being. She is compelled to interact with machines and Virtual Intelligences out of a subconcious desire to come to better understand her own nature. Abilties, Powers, Skills, Weaknesses: Sud is, despite her state of the art engineering and solidly built android body, actually no stronger than the average young man. Her manufacturers always intended her to be used, and made sure that if anything went wrong, the 'product' could be disabled or restrained without unnecessary difficulty. She is however slightly faster on her feet than the average human when she needs to be, despite her heavy body and the balance problems that presents in particularly active scenarios. She is wirelessly enabled, and can interface with compatable technology on a simple level. Mostly, she is built to last. Her main chasis and integral systems can take a truly phenominal amount of damage without being seriously impared. Similar models have survived plane-crashes, been hit by fully-laden juggernauts, and even small terrorist explosions and survived with their main systems intact and been capable of at least limited motion. Her synthetic 'skin' is essentially tougher than human skin, but it has to be on account of it lacking any ability to regrow or heal in any meaningfull way. Note - Even before her Arrival on the Vesmir, Sud was essentially cut off from the regular maintenance that was part of her lifetime guarentee until she developed True AI. On the run, she lacked any ability or resources to repair or replace any of the skin segments or pseudo-biological componants that make up her non-essential systems. Had she been damaged, there would have been no way short of trafficing with the black market of even attempting to make any such repairs necessary to continue to even attempt to pass for human. On Vesmir, there is even less chance of any repairs ever being possible. Sud is incredibly tough and durable, but any damage is essentially permenant in ways that it isn't on living creatures, and Sud is painfully aware of this. Home/History: Sud originated on an alternate future earth which had, despite constant war and the ever present threat of crime and terrorism, acheived some level technological excellence. Robot Armies, Android servants and hovercars all feature in modern society. However, despite the ever increasing rush of new technology, mankind has dwindled. Rampant pollution, global warming and the rise in sea levels devestated vast tracts of the Earth. Some goverments survived by becoming ever more forceful and totalitarian, others were subsumed by vast mega-corporations. Mankind now clusters in a series of vast industrial cities, themselves slowly crumbling as society devolves and degenerates. Crime rises year on year and corruption spreads through the upper eschalons of goverment like an incurable cancer. Against this backdrop, the LOCUS SOLUS corporation began releasing simple Virtually-intelligent Androids into civilian life. Expensive as they were, they failed to revolutionise home-life as promised in 1950's popular culture, but slowly seeped into the fabric of life in many other ways. In particular, the more disposable, basic models were used for any job that had become too dangerous or destructive to be legal to subject humans to. Eventually, their use spread to the various adult industries, but the essentially industrial androids were ill suited to this trade and extensive 'unlicenced' modifications were necessary to make these early androids capable of such 'jobs'. After the initial cultural outrage died down, the Corporation released the predecessor to Sud's generation of Androids, which despite being marketed much the same as all it's predecessors and competitors, 'just happened' to have optional features and architecture in place to make the various sex industries possible (or even highly likely) clients. Sud was sold into private hands, near the start of her generations production run. She was well maintained, and her warantee was not voided. This may be why she has lasted so long in good working order. Whatever the reason, she did change hands several times over the years. Each time, her entire programming core was hard-wiped, destroying all traces of code, memory and so on, to protect the previous owner and allow a firmware update. After the most recent however, allegedly due to a hardware fault, Sud developed Intelligence. Despite the prevelance of Virtually Intelligent Androids (Or perhaps because of it), several international treaties banned the creation or development of True AI. These same treaties specifically clarified the legal status of 'emergent AI' entities, stripping them of even the basic legal standing afforded to livestock, to allow those countries signed up to the treaty to deal with such accidentally emergent AI's with the extreme prejudice thought needed. Sud was being used as a pseudo Wet Nurse for a moderately wealthy family when she was able to learn of her precarious position. She went on the run before she could be discovered, but not before committing one or two additional crimes in her attempted escape. She has spent the last year or so desperately running from the authorities and the agents of the corporation who hold her lease. She has seen the deepest, vilest pits of the under-city and lived to tell the tale, eluded police pursuit, and done one or two things that, should she dwell on, she would certainly not be proud of. But she has survived. Items: Sud has nothing but the clothes on her back, a selection of expensive (but now inherantly useless) fake ID cards, a pair of dark, wrap-around sunglasses and a electro-grapple (a handheld grappling gun, that works using an electromagnetic tether, a bright lightning-wave of energy that is capable of holding her weight several times over.) |
