5 Simple Ways to Not Get Flamed / Not Fail at DotA

I. Picking correct heroes

Ask your team which heroes they would like and make a logical pick. Games are easily lost because of poor picks. If you want to pick a hero that can be considered questionable don’t be blue or pink. If you want to play Juggernaut or Bloodseeker, go to slots 3-5. It is a more appropriate pick.

*The easiest way to not fuck up hero selections is to listen to the more experienced players on your team. The fastest way to get yourself flamed is to firstpick something absolutely retarded, and this goes for experienced players too. If you are one of the first 3 hero choosers on your team you will almost always have little to no deviation on your hero selections. Be aware of this in the game lobby.*


II. Importance of wards and chicken

Don't buy items so quickly that you don't have money for chicken and wards. I see this a lot: Support heroes (i.e. thd, lich, lion, sp, etc.) buy their items and go to a random lane without buying a chicken or wards to stop the pulls. After all 5 heroes are picked, pause the game so that you can: ask for lanes; determine who buys chicken; and decide who gets wards for the pull spot. Having wards increases your team's chances of survival by avoiding ganks and making sure you CONTROL ALL of the runes, so they may not be used against you.

*Do not pause, generally lanes that work together have synergy. Make sure you are using the heroes you have to their best extent IE do not jungle axe if you have a warlock or cm*

Always put 1 ward at the pull spot. Teams that don't will be a disadvantage with 1 soloing and 1 jungling. It will level up their heroes faster. You may possibly lose that lane. So to avoid that and feeding them, always ward the pull spot, after warding the rune spot.

*You can still win your lane w/o wards- Since your up against only 1 hero, make sure you harass A LOT to make sure he doesn't get the cs. And while harassed to a certain degree of HP, the hero may back off potentially losing exp. Now their puller can still gank you, and this is what happens A LOT. Still my advice works sometimes but only on certain heroes. Do not risk this, so just buy some goddamn wards.

*Absofuckinglutely. A good puller can literally freeze the best lane in the game from farming/killing*


2. Get a fuckin' crow asap. Crows move faster, and die less, than chickens.



III.How to lane

2v2 Dual lanes


1. Be aggressive and react.
Example- Harass them at all cost, you may not cs at that very moment, but they don't cs as well. With their hero at a threat of dying they will stay away letting you free farm.


Ex.If a hero is tanking creeps STUN HIM, he will not only take your stun damage, the creeps damage will be added in as well. Another possibility is when your creeps are pushing the lane, and all of their creeps have died. If they are dumb enough to stay by and try to deny their mage, STUN HIM. You will have a lot of creeps attacking him while stunned and deals great amount of damage.

2. If you're getting harassed, hit them back rather than just running away. For example, Warlock is babysitting a Spectre and is playing aggressive. He is harassing your melee or ranged heroes. Don’t just sit there and tank damage, hit the warlock back with your range attack. Make him also pay for attacking you. Make sure if your at their tower, do not attack them unless you have a motive to kill them. Because the tower will automatically refocus the attack directly on you, dealing a lot more damage than creeps and heroes.

3. Keep spacing in lane. So many times an NA or SK get off a stun on 2 heroes cause of shitty spacing. Don’t let that happen. Make a effort to stay separated in lane. One person stay to the left of the lane and the other to the right. This way, you can assist each other without both being stunned at once. If an SK stuns one of you, try to stun, or silence, the 2nd hero to stop the combo.

4. In a lane, sometimes people will initiate and go on a hero. In this situation, if you're not the person being focused, don’t just run. Use your mana and right click the heroes to damage them. This could possibly turn the fight around and make them weary of diving into a tower or past creeps. Try to get a better feel for when you should run and when it would be more beneficial to fight. If you react fast and if your a disabler, DISABLE the biggest threat that opposes you.


Ex. Bane is laning top with a Lina. Axe comes out of the jungle, and NA makes his move. If your bane SLEEP THAT AXE. If your Lina you shouldn't miss your stun either. NA will probably get his stun off but while axe is asleep he can't get his 2 second call off and which is the bigger threat than NA's stun.

5. Keep an eye on middle lane. When your solo is approaching level 6 and you're about level 3-5, depending on what happened in your lane, go and gank the mid lane. This gives your solo a huge advantage. And also tell your solo to come gank.

6. Check runes. If your solo is going top, you go bottom; and vice-versa.

7. Carry TP scrolls at all times.


I see this happening so many times.
^
Ex. Tower is being pushed, your teammates are of course backed up. TP And make a difference in the battle.

Ex. A gank tower dives, or a hero tower dives. TP and fucking kill him so your teammate doesn't die.



8. Look at the minimap. If you don't see enemy heroes BACK THE FUCK UP. If your going to think your gonna die. Then spidey senses say your gonna die. But that's why we have wards, to avoid this.

2. Mid lane solo


1. Get a fuckin' bottle and boots or at least check runes. It is super frustrating to see mid solos get stupid items like perseverance over a bottle and boots. Runes and gankers win games. It doesn't matter what hero you are, you should always check runes. If you're troll or drow, you don’t need the bottle, but get boots asap and check runes. This will only help you ensure that the enemy doesn’t get it.

Ex. Your zeus and you have low hp, you come across a regen rune. DING DING! Spam your fucking arc every time its not on cd, or go gank.

*Do not get bottle as first item, it will not help you cs at all since you have no added on damage or stats for hp/mana. You should farm this ASAP.

2. Carry TP scrolls at all times.

3. Look at the minimap. If you don't see anyone, back the fuck up. If your spidey sense is saying you might die, then you're probably going to die.



IV. How to ward

*Warding is one of the best indicators of a players skill. Know your ward points! Know if you are farming poorly, and help support the heroes who are with wards. If there isn't a single ward up, then you already lost*

Mid-game/late-game, figure out your team’s make up. Is it a "turtle until your late-game is farmed," or is it a "must gank and push?" In either case, ward accordingly.

1. For a "gank and push" team, ward aggressively on the other team's side and move together. Put wards on their side of the map and ward the lanes so you know where the enemy is moving. Personally I love to ward the hill on scourge and sentinel side.
Scourge(First tower outside base, beneath it is a hill)
Sentinel(First tower outside base, beneath it is the neutral, and the hill is there. You must adjust your position to the opposite side and plant it there.)


*Be aware their are ward points inside the enemies base for vision. It is almost always necessary to have vision to initiate properly in a push*

2. For a "turtle" team, ward the close spot to your base on the ledges. Ward the lane your carry hero is farming so he can see any ganks that are coming through the lane. Everyone knows about wards at runes, so the majority of ganks come through the lane. Put a ward in the lane.

3. Don't get picked off. This is what irritates me the fucking most. Idiots get picked off because they are not with the team, because they rather be farming late game when pushing or ganking is more essential.

V. Importance of ROSHAN


1. Keep a ward at ROSHAN. Also, keep track of the enemy's items so that you know when a team is capable of doing ROSHAN.

2. Don't get picked off. The majority of ROSHAN kill happen after a massacre. Many of these massacres happen because you got picked off. The same applies to towers and barracks.

*I've seen roshan battles turn games for the winning side AND the losing side. Be very aware of AOE heroes with blink when roshing (enigma/axe/tide/sk/es)*


Personal Note:

This is one of the better written and useful guides. If a lot of this is news to you, you should probably begin watching some replays of higher-skilled games. If and when you play uDg, be aware that is still an Open league, but you want to play your best, or at least win the game. You can express your opinions in this topic, and any other ideas that I think is useful and will edit.

Forum Registration

People, people,

uDg's forum registration system has finally arrived and will be put into action tonight, at 10PM EST time! Along with the ability to use the bots on the forum to check to see who is registered, this opens many doors for the bots to be able to do other things such as auto-update the Top 5, Staff list, and other functions I will be addting to the top of the page.

As you can see on both templates of the forum right now you are able to click "uDg Top 5" - - there will also be a "uDg Staff List" and other functions I think of. Please bare with me, the tables are a pain to make , and the php used to auto-update is too - I will add color and style to the txt etc on the table, but first I need to get them up. Anyways, I am excited for the new and improved games at uDg - with less pubs and multis your games will be more enjoyable and less "pub-like." Welcome, to the next step of uDg.

And of course, thanks for choosing uDg, and enjoy gaming.

Forum Registration

Attention uDg,

I am proud to announce that the implementation of the forum registration system will be put in place much quicker then planned. Little did I know uDg is growing faster then I am keeping up with. While DcL struggles to get more then one game up, we are racking 7. When a league open reachs this point, it usually is a great idea to require forum registration early on in the season to ensure quality games + keep out multi accounts.

The scripts will be tested from time to time from now and this upcoming friday. The scripts will be released at 10PM EST. Please, if you havn't already register, and if you have, you have nothing to worry about. The original date was June 1st, but that is a bit far, and unessessary to wait that long.

Thanks for playing uDg - Top 5 win cash, and of course, it's the #1 DotA league. No thanks to me or staff, thanks to the gamers, so keep gaming. Thanks all

Sneak Preview!


Hello uDg,

I'm proud to announce that uDg has made an outstanding advancement since day one, while we have 4-5 games up at prime time no other league exceeds or even matchs our activity level! Though we are still open and do not yet require forum registration, that time is just around the cornor, and will promote even larger activity.

Unfortunatly, a lot of other leagues are in trouble due to spam and bot problems at the moment, but as I am dedicated to keeping uDg running, uDg is indeed running and when spammed, the damage is next to nothing.

Fellas, a lot of new and cool things are coming to uDg between now and the next mount I am so excited about it I needed to let you guys know now! Please read the two following major events below and post comments if needed.

Weekend Tournaments

Weekend tournaments will be announced tonight, at around 9PM eastern time, a new forum section will be implemented for those of you who played xDg the signups will be almost the same. Teams of TWO will be able to sign up and the settings will be posted along with mode etc, the mode will be picked by me and each weekend it'll be different.

The tournament will be designed with a unique nickname and will be placed in the forums for sign-ups. The first game will start next weekend and the reward will be extra experience to both players.

If any questions, make a post, START GETTING YOU TEAMS READY! 9PM[EST] SIGN-UPS ARE OPEN!

Forum Registration

On June 1st, 2009 forum registration scripts will be implemented and the bots will be vertually hooked up to the forum board. Users that are not registered and validated on the forums will not be permitted to enter the uDg clan channel and will be banned asap untill they register and whisper uDg.Lord -unbanme. The safelist will be uploaded to the uDg.Lord bot every 2 mins to ensure that it's updated.

Also, things like Top 5 can be added to the forums because the bot can auto post it , etc. So yes, it's true, June 1st, 2009 this will be implemented to ensure that the games have less public people and more people that care about the league. No multiple accounts will be allowed, etc, etc. For any questions, post about it!

uDg.Templar is Back!

Just FYI for everyone, he's back and fully functional, I found a bypass reguarding "WardenUpdate.exe" for those of you who own a host bot and need help with this place PM me, I have a custom coded script that allows you to bypass warden in all, coded by me, thanks. (In C++)

And as always, thanks for playing uDg - and as said above, uDg.Templar IS BACK AND FULLY FUNCTIONAL, ENJOY!
