Gary Danielson on Tennessee: ‘Right now they are the least ready to win the tight games’

Danielson: If Tennessee doesn’t win (the SEC East), it will be really tough to swallow for Tennessee. I think they will win the East, but in order to do it, they will have to win a couple of tight games, which is something they had trouble with a year ago. They will probably show up in Atlanta (for the SEC championship game) and be outmanned (by the West Division champ).

Don’t get me wrong. Tennessee is very physical and they are a really good football team. But right now they are the least ready to win the tight games. That includes their fans, their players and their coaching staff. That is a big hurdle. They will have to win more than one of those tight games.
Gary Danielson knows his stuff. He does not mince words when says that Tennessee is the "least ready" team in the SEC to win tight games. That one is all on Butch Jones and his conservative play calling in tight games. I have to say that Butch's sphincter would get so tight that you could not shove a needle up his rear end.

Fair assessment.

This isnt all on Butch though. Everyone from the coaches to the players to even the fans has to learn how to win games. Say what you will about Fulmer: his teams in the 90s didnt really have this problem. Coming out of the mid 2000's on funk is the next step for Butch & Co.

Winning and expecting to win are two different things that are intertwined and dependent on one another. They are also, both learned behaviors.
