It Could have wide and broad effects on colleges sports teams across the nation. The black players at Missouri have painted allegations of racism on the school's "canvas" and are using them to hold the school hostage. In reading more about it and talking to some people I know in Missouri, the incidents are very random and could happen anywhere. People there are even wondering if some of them are not made up. They fear that political activists have infiltrated the misery team and are trying to use the team as a way to make some changes in their school leadership. If this is a successful coup, it could very well spread to campuses all over the country. No matter what people all over the country should keep an eye on this situation. I feel bad for Missouri fans, as politics has no place in college sports, but I hope that their school leaders do not give in to the players. You do not let the patients run the asylum. http://www.stltoday.com/sports/college/mizzou/eye-on-the-tigers/mizzou-football-players-join-racial-protest/article_d3d9d2c5-8d17-57a7-b01d-04fcc1c26f0e.html Edited by TennesseeTuxedo, Nov 8 2015, 09:14 AM.

This is a classic case of tail wagging the dog. The university is more than a football team. I agree that someone has infected the members of their team . I hope none have any professional asperations , they have tainted themselves. I understand caring but the idea that members of a football team can strike to cause change of a university president is ludicrous on the face of it. |

If I were the coach, my response would be simple: "I support your decision to do what you think is right. I hope you support my decision in doing what's right for our team, and starting my search for the 32 replacement players who understand commitment that we now need to fill our roster. Thanks!" |

Something along the the line of what John Wooden told Bill Walton : " we're going to miss you so much " |

Was on a staff back in the early 70's not long after integration and the blacks were upset that not enough colors from their school was included in the uniforms. They decided to protest and not play in the upcoming game against one of our powerhouse rivals until their demands were met. We played that Friday night without them and WON...huge upset. Monday morning the blacks came back to practice with their heads hanging low wanting back with the team...HC made them run while the white players watched. |

And they expect to be taken seriously? That first demand labels them as bugger racists than the red necks that they are supposedly protesting. |

I wonder if the ncaa has an opinion on player strikes ? Do these idiots realize that a scholarship is a priviledge and not a right ? Not even auburn would look at giving them a ride. Does misery give renewable 1 yr or 4 yr scholls ? |

Based upon your comment, you are suggesting that white privilege does not exist. It does and is clearly visible in the portrayal of blacks in the media. The most obvious example was during Hurricane Katrina when whites who took food from a grocery store were “searching for food” while blacks were said to be “looting.” The only difference between the pictures was their skin color. I work in a very diverse school and often see the way in which the African American athletes are treated differently than the white athletes when we enter stores. The students are angry that the University President tried to sweep some racial incidents under the rug. Had the issues been addressed in a timely manner, this would not be an issue. Pretending the problems don’t exist does not make them go away. |

I'm not acquainted with the mizzou scene or the treatment of being black. Putting your scholly in danger to me is a case of cutting off your nose to spite your face. |

No, I do not believe in white privilege. Anyone who believes that it does exist, is the actual racist. |

So let me get this straight, there are few incidents on/off campus where someone uttered a phrase in common usage among the black lives matter crowed (or a clone group), but they were probably white? Maybe there is more to it, I have only read a little. So this poor fuck MU president should now resign, because the black lives matter crowed needs to feel better. And so the football team now wants to strike.. Sometimes you just gotta let things play out. I hope those SOBs and their coach do strike. Their strike will be about as valid as hands up, don't shoot was in Ferguson? Pathetic divisive culture which has been fermented by our dear leader "BO" and a pack of lies about "white privledge". |
