OK, so what are your feelings heading into the 2014 season concerning strengths and weaknesses? What's the biggest concern? What's the biggest weakness? Perhaps it is the passing game, or the running game ... perhaps the youth of the O-line. Perhaps it is (still) the defensive backfield's ability to make open field tackles, or the lightweight line. Maybe you are confident about our wide-receivers ... and cringe when thinking of our D-line. |

I'll go first ... Biggest strength: For me it is the passing game, so long as Worley can get the ball out in 3 seconds. After that, it could be a circus because our tackles probably can't hold containment for long. We have legitimate SEC talent at every one of our 2-deep X, Y & Z slots ... plus our TEs look to be at least competent this year. With so much to defend over the course of a game, we could wear out the defensive backfield of opponents. I expect opponents to do a lot of blitzing to disrupt our passing game. Biggest concern: No doubt in my mind it is the defensive front. The O-line is another concern, but that is only because of the tackles (the guards and center seem solid to me). Yet, our D-line is undersized, generally filled with mediocre talent, two of our best players are already hobbling (Maggitt, Saulsberry), and it is quite likely that our 2-deep will have three true freshmen. Uggggh. Edited by OrangeRev, Aug 21 2014, 08:23 AM.

Too many to name. You just can't win big in the SEC playing freshman and inexperienced players all over the field. Folks are giddy because we have 4 and 5 star players but they are young and very inexperienced.....teams we play have those 4 and 5 stars too.....but they are battle tested. I see 5-7.........6 and 6 I'm doing cartwheels. Will not be a bit surprised if this season is UGLY! |

I agree with Phil. Seeing our defense actually chase down somebody from behind or get in the top half of the SEC in sacks, would give me multiple organisms. Seeing our offensive line get out on a screen and actually block somebody would be wonderful. An accurate QB would also be a blessing. Can I get a Hallelujah, Rev? |

I'm concerned with offensive and defensive tackles. Experience we ill help elsewhere. Of course, we can't afford any injuries! |

As far as a strength, our wr corp should be a match u p nightmare, maybe even more than cordarelle, jusgin and zero. Time will tell whether our rbs will be diff maker. |

Our strength is our wide receivers. Our defensive line would be our number one concern with the offensive line next. A couple of injuries and we may have other concerns. |

My biggest concern is the defensive line. When your best player on the DL is a true freshmen (Barnett), you may have some issues. Our biggest strength is our playmaking ability at both the WR and RB positions. |

I am going full blown sheepy optimism this year boys. We reall had zero strengths last year, our o-line was the definition of overrated. This year we have playmakers at every skill spot and speed, speed, speed on defense. I think Worley will be much improved and it is Butch Jone's subtle swagger that makes me think this. Butch knows he has a strong horse, all he has to do is teach him how to run. |

On then radio today, coaches at Arizona and Auburn both said that two top recruiting classes are not enough to make a run for the national championship. Tennessee has one. When we look at our strengths and weaknesses it is obvious that we have a long way to go to be competitive. Butch certainly has his work cut out for him. He is doing great with what talent he has. |
