Today was the last day of camp. So, who are the leaders for positions? Offense: QB - Worley RB - Lane or Hurd WR - North, Pearson, Howard (slot) ... Smith and Malone are close behind TE - Wolf Line - Kerbyson (RT), Robertson (RG), Crowder (C), Jackson (LG), Gilliam (LT) Defense: DT - O'Brien, Williams DE - Vereen, Maggitt LB - JRM, Johnson CB - Moseley or M. Williams, Sutton, Coleman S - Randolph, Swafford Special Teams: KO - Bullock FG/XP - Bullock P - Darr PR - Young KR - Young and [no idea] |

I'm more concerned about our OT's than any other position |

I don't know that we have many choices. I'm a little upset that Blair didn't win the LT job because I had very, very high expectations for him. However, Gilliam does have five years of SEC level conditioning and coaching ... so maybe he will be serviceable. As for Kerbyson at RT, I agree with one person today that wrote that (in general) he would rather see a true freshman guard (Robertson) on the line than a true freshman tackle (Thomas) on the line. Thus Kerbyson (RT) with Robertson (RG) is better than Thomas (RT) with Kerbyson (RG). |

If we have to play a true frosh, I like Robertson. By all accounts, he is strong. Plus, he was a sucessful wrestler. They tend to have better leverage than their peers. |

I bet Butch is a little upset that Blair didn't win the LOT spot, too. JCs are brought into start or at least play a lot of snaps. |

Butch Jones said that Jashon Robertson has won the Offensive Guard competition and will start at right guard. |

I'm just as worried about the defensive line. They are small and other teams will pound on them. It will show more as the season goes along. |

Walk-ons and True Freshmen ... the horror ... the horror. Michael Williams, the 3* under-the-rader walk-on transfer from Maryland who had given up football to run track, now looks to have the edge over lightweight true freshman Eman Moseley for one of the cornerback spots. Jr. Geraldo Orta's name hasn't been mentioned all camp ... Sr. Riyahd Jones has under-impressed. The reviews on true freshman DE Derrick Barnett is that he has been the best and most consistent D-lineman in camp ... and it is not close in the eyes of the majority of observers. Does he start, however, over converted LB Corey Vereen, who is undersized for the DE position? Good possibility, and this is why our D-line is such a horror. I wouldn't be surprised if both Barnett and Vereen start. I don't know if Maggitt will play in 1st game at all. Saulsberry may not play all year. I don't believe you can count on either one. I don't see Weatherd playing any straight up LB, either. He will be a designated pass rusher, if we can get anybody to 3rd and long. |
