Most fans knew that Bruce would not be coming back to UT. Yet, we held hope out because we fondly recall, how he captained our basketball program's meteoric rise in the collegiate basketball world. Despite knowing that Bruce would be back, Auburn hiring Bruce took all of the air out of the sails of the UT basketball fans. We realize that we are in a ply in game to get to the NCAA Tournament. Can anyone think of something worse that could have happened yesterday than what actually did go down? With the events of yesterday coupled with where the program has been over the sat two years and where it is today, where does this leave the UT basketball program in the future? If Cuonzo Martin is shown the door, the fans, ticket holders, boosters, are going to be all over Dave Hart and will force Hart to spend big money on a top name coach. Fans will accept nothing less now. Anything short of that and the Vols basketball program will take the place of Auburn as basketball hell. The UT Administration f Jimmy Cheek and Susan Martin, are about be put back up on the "Most Wanted" list. Could their time as the UT Athletics watch dog be on borrowed time? The bottom line is that the fans will no longer accept mediocrity and spend their money to support Jimmy Cheek, Susan Martin, and Dave F=Hart's pursuit of mediocrity in the UT basketball program. |

Most Tennessee fans care about football, not basketball. Tennessee is not among the elite in basketball. No one has taken us to the final four. At best, we will be an average team. At worst, we will be like most of the Southeastern conference. |

There's no need to lose all hope, Tux. If Tennessee is Pearl's dream job, he will dump Auburn like an ugly prom date as soon as Tennessee makes an offer. But, if one were to listen to the commentary of those close to the administration, Pearl had burned too many bridges to be considered again at Tennessee - and Pearl knew this. Pearl back to Tennessee, thus, is an ignorant hope. And the fact that Pearl jumped to another SEC school should tell everyone that Pearl's love of Tennessee was just an act. There are other coaches. There are always other coaches. Edited by OrangeRev, Mar 19 2014, 09:08 AM.

Tux I am not talking about how much Tennessee basketball is worth. I'm talking about our performance on the court. It is not elite! |

The fact is that Pearl wasn't coming here. It's disappointing to see him at an SEC school...but what can you do? We'll play Auburn one time a year...and other than that....big whoop. The bigger question is Martin's future. I've said several times here that it's best if he's replaced...and I still believe that, as I'm just not convinced after watching this year's foibles that he's the guy to make us relevant again. That being said, he's not going anywhere this year...and we could actually win a couple of games going forward. The big question is whether McCrea is going to play us forward or play us out. When he relaxes and lets the game come to him, he's quite effective. When he tries to impose himself on the game....he'a a wild shooting, turnover machine. We need ten points from Richardson, ten points from Barton, and twenty rebounds from Maymon & Stokes. The rest will fall into place if we get than. |

Everybody loved BP- he was very passionate while here and this Administration minus sHart is partly to blame for his sanctions with the NCAA. why wouldn't UT lawyers counsel him and let him know there was a picture that they knew about? We do not have the full story on that most likely. What we had with BP as Corch was an exciting fast paced press game, what we have now is -boring and inconsistent as hell. Damn we had some serious talent this year, it right now just seems.... wasted. Maybe the Vols win tonight, maybe they get 2 wins in the tourney, who knows ? If they get 3 wins does that clear Martin for anyone? I think we all see what is going to happen next year. If you cannot win with this talent what is it going to be like next without this much talent? As far as the record this year goes- talent carried us to where we are, in spite of our bad coaching... You need both talent and coaching to be a serious contender. Next year could be ugly. |

Bruce Pearl cheated! It's more than a picture that got him. He had a bad reputation in the Horizon league before he came to Tennessee. He has character flaws and they will not go away at Auburn. |

They all cheat. That's a given in the coaching profession - all sports. Let's face it though, the Administraion from the BOT on down don't really care about athletics at UT. Really, you say. Then what about Jones? I really think he is on his own with very little support. I won't go into the BOT, as much as I have bitched about them in the past I won't bore you. The swim team is bad, the golf team is bad, the track team has disappeared. The only two sports that show potential are football and baseball. We haven't had good leadership at the university since Joe Johnson. IMHO Edited by Michelangelo, Mar 19 2014, 11:00 PM.

I believe that Cheek is a dead man walking. Susan Martin has to be neutered. |

Cuonzo Martin will be back next season, unless he opts to leave for another job, which is a possibility. Will Martin be back via one extra year extension on his contract - to prove himself in a 4th year? Or will he be given a new 5 year deal? |
