I'll give Martin a .500 finish to the regular season, which gives him an 18-13 record. The deified Pearl had an 18-13 regular season record in his final year. I know Pearl's history is better ... but I'm still mystified that so many are fixated on him as the ONLY option, when he isn't an option at all. The only miracle that Pearl would bring to Tennessee is that he would be the only head coach who was hired after being fired. I just don't get it. It must be the orange nipples.

OR he took a program that had been mediocre or worse since Don Devoe's early years and made it EXCITING. His teams were good enough that we got our cavern of an arena remodeled into a killer place to play. Got our first #1 ranked team. Got our first #2 seed. Got our first Elite 8 team. Increased attendance what.....95% or more. Brought Bernard King back into the fold. Wore Orange Coats for Vandy and KY. Energized the fans, courted the students, raped the women and rode off on the horses. He came in like a tornado and took us to 6 straight dances. Comparing Butch Jones to Pearl is a LARGE compliment, as it means he's engaging the fans and making his sport seem relevant again. I get what you're saying about Bruce not coming back (although I'd take him in a second).....but his impact will be felt for years. |

You can't compare what Martin has done to Bruce's accomplishments. |

Bruce's last year was complicated by the distractions of the NCAA investigation and the subsequent pressures on the team. The last year was a throw away year because of everything going on. With life back to normal it will go great. Bring back Bruce Pearl! |

+1000 Two of the three best players on the team are Pearl recruits, McRae and Maymon. It could be argued that Pearl would have landed Jarnell in the same manner that Martin did, mid-term enrollee. Martin's roster heading into next season will be a disaster waiting to happen. He has already lost one commitment and getting a marquee player now is absolutely an impossible dream. Bruce's full body of work at UT absolutely dwarfs Martin. A Pearl return means an energized fan base. He has been seen on ESPN often by high school players and he is the best hope for reviving the program in the least amount of time. Oh, I'd take Greg Marshall, but he ain't coming. |

Good gosh, Maybe they will hire Pearl back maybe not. BUT-This style of play Czo is playing just sucks, and if you cannot win with the talent level he has this year in a pitiful SEC Conference then why would ANYONE in their right minds think he is going to field anything better in the future? HE GONE, MOST DEFINITELY... |

UT was ranked number 1 at one point while he was here. Regardless of the fact that it was only for a day, basically...that one day was more excitement than UT basketball has had in the last 20 years combined. There arent many coaches that can have success at UT in Basketball. Pearl had it, and he just bled orange. That's why people want him back, I think. Hell, even I watched a few bball games when he was here, and I really dont like bball at all (it bores me to tears). personally I want them to rehire Pearl just so I can watch the drama. |
