While what the Rev says about dollars and energy is true, many f the petition signers are or have been basketball season ticket holders. They may not contribute ion the scale with the Haslams family, but they do pay the bills, so to speak, with butts in the seats and popcorn sales. We have not hit a fevered pitch quite yet. If a change is made in the program, and Bruce is passed over, there are going to be season ticket holders who will be angered and not renew their tickets-and there is nobody standing in line to pick up the slack. Something to think about….what happens if a change is made in the program, Bruce Pearl is overlooked, and Bruce signs at another SEC school? I could confidently say that the fans will go into feeding frenzy and Hart will be as popular as Mike Hamilton is currently with the UT fan base. Season tickets will be dropped faster than properly soiled toilet paper. The basketball program will spiral down and instead of being profitable and being one of the top 5-10 teams in attendance every year, we will drop out of the top 20 teams. What Bruce did was not good. However, coaches doing more and worse things than he did, have gotten much less worse and less severe penalties than Bruce and UT have gotten. Fans understand that and that is why they are forgiving and willing to take him back. |
