Lady Vols flop against ky

Watched most of this game. Totally unprepared for the outcome. I thought holly did a decent job last year, when she had to replace her starting 5, but this?

They lost it in the first half when they were missing their top three guards for nearly the entire half (massengale, carter & simmons). I'm not blaming the refs...they are terrible in both directions....but those refs yesterday were really bad. There were no-calls where somebody got hammered and calls where there was no contact at all.

Matthew has now beaten WarLICK three out of the last four meetings. Ky. has had injuries too and came into this game in sixth place in the SEC. First Ky. win in Knoxville since 1985. Star rankings of rosters not even close. First Ky. win in T-B ever. Women refs are awful but they miss calls both ways.

Star rankings not close.....really? UK has seven McDonalds All Americans on their roster / UT has six. We should have won the game.....but to say the talent levels aren't similar is.........wrong........

How many top 10 ranked teams has WarLICK beaten in her three years of running the program? The program is headed for mediocre status and WarLICK is the reason why.

As far as coach, is Linda Lovelace still alive? She might suck, but she wouldn't choke on the big ones!

But look at the classes that Pat recruited her final years.....

In 08 she signed 5 kids in the top 20....and they didn't get close to a national championship

09
13 - Spani
69 - Dupree

10
24 - Simmons
28 - Avant

11
4 - Massengale
5 - Burdick
29 - Harrison

12
5 - Graves
21 - Carter
39 - Jones

That's three kids in the top ten in four years, and frankly...none of them have been a difference maker. I thought Graves might be....but she's gone backwards this year. What they really need is another Parker, Holzclaw, Gordon, Catchings or Charles.

WarLICK was recruiting those years too. I have a problem with her. To me, she is the Bob Kesling of the athletic programs. Blobb hung around Knoxville waiting on John Ward to retire and of course, the quality of the radio broadcasts went from top notch, to mediocre, average, no longer a cut above. WarLICK could have easily gotten a head coaching job at a smaller or mid major school, but hung around waiting on Pat to retire, knowing that she would be promoted to head corch. Tennessee could have easily hired a coach with a proven track record of success, but Pat's clout made it a mortal lock that WarLICK would be elevated to the head corching job. I understand that recruiting did slip the last two or three years of Pat's tenure, but again, WarLICK was the lead recruiter and failed at that job too.

And there we have it.....the numbers 1 & 9 recruits her first actual year as head coach. And darned near #2 as well if Davis hadn't developed a worm in her brain.

This year hasn't been great, but she was the coach of the year in the SEC last year.....leading a team that replaced it's entire front line with unproven players. When is the last time you were calling for the ouster of a UT coach who was is the reigning SEC coach of the year and won the SEC regular season champoinship the year before?

Not calling for her ouster right now, what good would it do? Have simply stated that I don't care for her, I think her in game coaching sucks and that the program is slowly declining. We shall see how it plays out. She will have a very experienced and supposedly talented team next year with the No. 1 player in the low post. We shall see how she does with that. With that team, she should go undefeated in the SEC next season.

My last post in this thread as we are getting nowhere fast. I don't like the bitch and we will see next season if she can coach or not. BTW, I hope she gets in the NCAA bracket with UConn this year.

I think it's an intestinal intuition that one's gut feeling is that something doesn't appear as it seems. Yes, Warlick was selected SEC coach of the year last year. She got into the NCAA tourney but didn't last very long. However, something just tells me that the status of UT Women's Basketball will not see any grand achievements under her as we did under PS. She does have the "-Licking" nation behind her. No pun intented.

Truth be told....there's nobody out there who's going to bring us another 8 National Championships. I'm not sure if Holly is the long term solution or not. My choice would have been Carolyn Peck...but no matter who...they were going to suffer from completely unfair expectations and this thread is a prime example. Hell, how many seasons did it take Pat to get her first? And if you remember, we got close a lot of times before then and just missed, so it wasn't that it took her that long to build up the program.

You might need some Ex Lax for your intestinal malfunction.
