Former NFL Scout Talks About Torrance Gibson

Interesting column.

Torrance Gibson is very very raw as a QB.

Take time to watch his HUDL video highlights here: Torrance Gibson HUDL Video Highlights

Gibson has been in Knoxville the past 4 days and his flight back home was delayed, so he will spend another night in Knoxville.

Gibson said he enjoyed the stay and that Tennessee is his leader by a a large margin and he said he would probably come back next weekend for Orange Carpet Day

Gibson spent a lot of time with Butch, Bajakian and Azzanni.

I still think taking this kid is a mistake. He's going to be trouble.

BJ, I'm not too concerned right now. Gibson will visit another school and tell everyone that the school he just visited is in the lead. He seems to be that kind of person. Always looking for the attention.

When he commits and stops all visits and stops accepting phone calls form other coaches, I will pay attention to him with seriousness.

I think you have the kid pegged right. My concern is that he could not control himself once he enrolled at Tennessee. I am afraid it would be a wasted scholarship, especially if he were kicked out of school after a year or two. I know it's the coaches call and they may be willing to take a chance on such a talent but I remain skeptical.

JC Shurburtt from 247 sports said that on Torrance Gibson, he feels like Tennessee is certainly the team to beat right now. He feels like OSU and Torrance have faded away from each other. He feels like LSU could be the dark horse in this recruitment as they are telling Torrance they will change their offensive scheme for him. He feels like more than likely TG ends up at WRU.

I wish we would drop the kid from our recruitment. He is too much of a risk.

I don't have a problem with risks, because part of top end talent means top end attitude ... and sometimes that attitude can become perverted.

What I would not want, however, is a player that creates havoc among his teammates, hurting the cohesion and overall attitude of the team.

Your last sentence is exactly my fear about this recruit.

Tennessee Football recruiting: 5-star QB Torrance Gibson a lock to Volunteers? - FanSided - Sports News, Entertainment, Lifestyle & Technology - 270+ Sites
Quote:

The game of quarterback musical chairs seems to be alive and well with the 2015 recruiting class, especially after some recent decision-making by four-star quarterback Deondre Francois that could be an indication that five-star quarterback Torrance Gibson is a lock to head to the Tennessee Volunteers...

..Once everyone started to put the pieces together, it’s now considered that it’s all but a lock that Gibson lands with Butch Jones and the Vols.

Beginning the day on Tuesday, according to the 247 Sports experts, the Crystal Ball prediction had Gibson as a 50% lock to Auburn, and only 25% to Tennessee. But, if the Auburn coaching staff fell in love with Francois as much as he apparently did with them, then that leaves Tennessee open to make a major push to get the top-ranked dual-threat quarterback in the class.
I don't see anyway that they keep him at QB.

I have watched his film and he has not shown the ability to make all of the throws required in our offense, has poor mechanics, and the fact that he continues to play WR in his team's 7 on 7 camps should tell that he plans on laying WR at the next level. Tennessee is not going to take 3 QBs in this class, especially when we don't have 30 plus spots to give.

It makes me sick to think that he is even being considered as a recruit. The kid is trouble!

The rumor is, that a girl in Knoxville has TG's heart amongst other things. That is not why any recruit should choose a school and is not a recipe for long-term success.

I don't think it ever went away completely. The walk on QB from Dyersburg has a sister at UT who has been involved with the Hostess program for three years now.
