Wish I could have seen this arrest! Alabama cornerback Tony Brown has only been on campus for a few weeks, but he is already making headlines for the wrong reasons. Brown, one of eight Alabama freshmen to enroll early in Alabama’s class of 2014, was arrested early Sunday morning and charged with resisting arrest and failure to obey. According to AL.com, Brown was “hit with pepper spray” after threatening Tuscaloosa police officers and refusing to obey their orders. After officers responded to reports of a loud party involving underage drinking, Brown, according to a police spokesman, continually approached officers while they were arresting another man. Officers warned Brown that he would be arrested for disobeying after not leaving the area after being asked repeatedly and Brown “responded by yelling threatening profanity at them.” Brown then pulled away and resisted as officers tried to take Brown into custody. Officers then “hit Brown with pepper spray, forced him to the ground and cuffed him.” Brown was released on $1,500 bond and Alabama athletics official Jeff Purinton told The Tuscaloosa News that “Coach Saban is aware of the situation and will handle it appropriately once he has a chance to review all of the information.” |
