Teams Rushing Vols Commitments

There is a final and furious attempt for other teams to push hard on some of the Vols commitments.

* Missouri had an in-home visit with Dewayne Hendrix on Friday night and they are pushing for an unofficial visit too Mizzou from him. Reportedly Butch is doing the same, to try and keep him away from Columbia, MO.

* Cory Thomas is still on the wavering leaf. We will not know what he does until awe get closer to NSD.

* The surprise guy to me is Vic Wharton. Vic has been one of the ring leaders of the 2014 Legacy Class. Reportedly he is discussing taking a trip to Notre Dame. That would be a shock,

* Kevin Mouhon is visiting Cincinnati, where his brother plays. Tuberville has been selling him on the fact that UT has recruited a lot of linebackers and that playing time will be an issue.

* Chris Weathered is getting rushed by Texas A&M. This could come down to NSD as well.

* Gavin Bryant said he is all Vol after his visit to UT and will not visit Miami.

We need to lose 2-3 off our list, particularly given that I think we have at least 2 more that might get added ... I think Dews is gone, and I think the reason that Cory Thomas is looking around may have to do with grades.

Though it is still a situation to watch, I'm less and less concerned with Hendrix than I was about 10 days ago.

Weatherd is my biggest concern. We don't usually have much success pulling recruits out of Texas when Texas or A&M wants them. Plus, he has Auburn calling.

We should get an update on Volquest sometime tomorrow on Weatherd. I believe Jancek is with him today.

Apparently Cinci boards are pretty confident about them flipping Mouhon. Talk about a something that does not make any sense. Mouhon is not talking to anyone, so this is Cinci writers likely getting info from Mouhon's brother.

There is talk that UT coaches are going to put pressure on Mouhon to choose between UT and Cinci and see where he goes. This will allow the UT coaches to press on with their recruiting.

Cory Thomas, Jerome Dews and Kevin Mouhon look like they are headed elsewhere per the scuttlebutt.

Mouhon would not be a huge loss if 1. Tennessee can hang onto the kid from Bammerland and 2. the kid from Bammerland qualifies academically.

Looks like it's all cool with Gavin Bryant as far as his commitment is concerned. Now on to the ACT test!

Bryant said his favorite part of the visit was Saturday night when he walked into Neyland Stadium.

"My favorite part was walking out on the field and they turned the lights on and they started playing the music. It brought me some chills," Bryant said. "I started jumping up and down started getting hype."

With his Tennessee official visit now wrapped up, Bryant said he's all-Vol and won't take any more visits.

"Miami has been trying to get me to take a visit but I'm done," Bryant said. "I'm 101 percent with Tennessee."

I'm timid about Mouhon, but I am still thinking he signs with the Vols. If someone has been filling his head with thoughts that we are crowded at linebacker, that is laughable. Our depth at LB is pathetic, and particularly at MLB where he plays.

Hendrix is taking an official visit to Mizzou this weekend.

Butch will do an in-home visit with him later next week.

Derek Barnett will be in Knoxville this weekend on an official visit. Wharton, Gaulden, Hurd, and Malone will be there with him. Apparently Ole Miss and Clemson are trying to back door him as well.

Assuming you are talking about Mouhon, Fortenberry hasn't said that ... the only thing Fortenberry/Hubbs have said is that Cincinnati feels that they are in it with Mouhon and that he has been given a lot to think about. Mouhon is not talking with anyone.

They also said that he will come off his high from the visit and still has a 1/31 visit scheduled with Tennessee, which often swings things the other direction.
