Coach Jones and two assistants were in Ohio to keep Joe Henderson firmed up. He will be in Knoxville in May. Coach Jancek is headed for Texas tomorrow to spend time with Weatherd, a key linebacker recruit. Lots of fretting going on about Mouhon and Hendrix. Both are a legitimate concern right now IMO. The big tackle and new Bud of Charles Mosely, Craig Evans, is slated to be in Knoxville this weekend. Also, running back Darrell Williams, who flipped from Arizona State to LSU, is taking a eastern swing this week. He will visit the Gatas first and then Knoxville from Friday to Sunday. Would be nice to get a verbal from Emmanuel Smith IMO. I don't know why, but I have a feeling that UT will lose Mouhon or Hendrix, but not both. Legacy class continues to work the text and twitter on Adoree Jackson. Would be nice if someone could convince him that Mustardchamp is close to No. 1 on the hot seat for next season. LSU, in my mind, may be the favorite for him right now, but I won't be surprised by his choice one way or the other. Would be a coup if Vols could land him. It would be an instant battle between him and Payne for the starting left corner job, with Justin Coleman moving to nickle back. I love the three in-state linemen that are verballed for 2015 signing class. |

Or just the opposite ... Muschamp looks so inept as a coach right now that a player might be repulsed at the thought of him being there long term. Muschamp apparently didn't impress Darrell Scott this past weekend, despite being a fan of Florida. |

Link to updated ESPN Recruiting Nation list. They don't have a real high opinion of some of our linemen commits, including the Thomas kid. I think they have missed too low on a couple, including Orlando Brown. At one point in the fall, Tom Lemming had him as the No. 1 offensive lineman in this class. http://espn.go.com/college-sports/football/recruiting/school?id=2633&action=login |

Hendrix is the open kid that is not an Earluy Enrolllee that we can not afford to lose above all others. He will be playing for sure by the 2015 season. The recruiting guys are not going to be thinking highly of the tyope of guys that Butch wants to bring in. He is not going to going after guys with NFL builds. His type of guys are going to be tap and lean-2 and 3 star linemen. |

Most of the linemen Jones has recruited thus far are 3-4 star players. I don't care how many stars they have as long as they can be coached, block, or tackle. |

Great example of that is Ray Raulerson, aka, Ray Maulerson. Long body, long arms with an aggressive nature. He comes out of a top program in Florida and should be a factor in 2015. |

Interesting about Lemming. He got caught a few years back recruiting a kid to Notre Dame instead of just interviewing him. Maybe he has cleaned up his act. |

Coaches still fanned out all over the country. Missouri seems to be trying to poach Barnett as well as Hendrix. Butch was in West Tennessee yesterday, good to see him over this way. On Hendrix, Fortenberry doesn't seem to think there is a big problem there: There have been a lot of questions about Dewayne Hendrix this week and look for him to possibly take a visit to Missouri this weekend. Contrary to early thought, Hendrix never took an official visit to Mizzou. Instead, he took an unofficial visit during the season when he was scheduled for an official. Even if Hendrix takes that visit it's going to be very hard for the Tigers to pry away Hendrix from the Vols. His family overwhelmingly wants to see him in Knoxville but it seems Hendrix is listening to the Tigers' final pitch and will make a visit this weekend. |

Woody Wommack is reporting that Michael Sawyers canceled his UT visit to trip at ND. Makes me doubt that there nay not have been much interest on either end. The Vols are rumored to recruiting a JUCO DT. |

Got a name? It is clear that Jones would like to add a DT, but the only three DT's (all high school) that I've noticed the Vols tinkering with are Craig Evans (not coming because of grades), Michael Sawyers (one side or the other is not interested), and Courtney Garnett (decommitted from Texas, and likely committing to Oklahoma). Three swings and three misses. I'm still stinging from losing JUCO Jarran Reed to Alabamamamama Edited by OrangeRev, Jan 24 2014, 08:50 AM.

The JUCO DT rumor was from ESPN, which is a month behind recruiting news. |

The Vols are back in on DT Michael Sawyers. He was all hot and lathered by ND recruiting him. Now he wants to visit UT instead of ND. Rev, is he a fallback for when Cory Thomas flips? You have mentioned Thomas as having grade issues. Is he a sign and place guy? |

I can't imagine that they wouldn't take Sawyers, regardless of what happens with Thomas. Thomas' grades seem like a big concern as of about a month ago (end of Fall semester). Sawyers is fickle ... I think corner was saying about a week ago that he's got a new favorite every hour. |

Sawyers family is supposedly pushing him to stay close to home. You get one or two of these type kids every year who can't make up their mind and who frankly, like to have attention given to them. Here's Fortenberry's update: Excerpt from Gen. Quarters board, Volquest: But, Barnett has indicated to some that he's likely to not take any more visits although he has yet to officially call everything off. We tried to reach out to him Monday night and he was still not taking calls as of late Monday night. Another that continues to not take any calls is defensive line commitment Dewayne Hendrix. While Hendrix has not taken calls, those close to him have told us that Hendrix's mom and Hendrix has communicated with Jones and the Vols since Saturday night and that Tennessee has weathered the Missouri visit. Jones and staff members are to be with Hendrix at the end of the week just before the start of the dead period. Finally, Cory Thomas remains quiet as well as he prepares for his Tennessee visit this weekend. Tennessee will see him on Thursday when Tommy Thigpen goes to see him. It seems there is going to be a significant battle for Thomas as we head down the stretch. But, Tennessee is once again in it for another defensive linemen as several people close to Michael Sawyers have indeed informed us that Sawyers is still interested in Tennessee and reached out to Tennessee earlier today. It will be interesting to see what happens with Sawyers is still contemplating a Notre Dame visit this weekend and with his renewed interest in Tennessee just how everything plays out. Tennessee coaches are likely to see him midweek. |
