According to some folks on talk radio and in FB circles, UT has a major issue in Nashville. The issue is that UT is not looked upon favorably by Ensworth School coaches and players. Rico McGraw, who many folks thought would be a lock for UT, shunned the Vols and reportedly he has had some derogatory things to say about UT. Why is this a problem? Ensworth is becoming a magnet for some of the top talent in the US. It is going to become a boarding school of choice for athlete wanting to play for a top national school. |

If there is a problem, it could be a hangover from Boy Kiffin and Dooley. I am sure that Butch, with his excellent PR and people skills, can iron out anything that has festered over the years. |

When is the last time an Ensworth player came to UT? Not a single one in the last 12 years ... and I can't recall of a single Ensworth player coming prior to that. There have only been 3 players that have been offered by Tennessee's football program, and all three of those in the last couple of years: Elder, Sawyers and McGraw. This means that Tennessee has not done work to establish a pipeline to that school, but part of the reason is because the school hasn't historically produced top talent. I'm sure that the lack of interest (or snubbing) from the state school has caused a bit of an offense. Edited by OrangeRev, Jan 18 2014, 11:50 AM.

No, a lot stems from the deal with the more recent episode of the Vols taking Derek Barnett. If you recall, he hit and shaved an Ensworth player out of bounds in the semifinals this past year. Coach Ricky Bowers and another assistant were suspend by the TSSAA, but had that suspension lifted at the last minute. |

Trust me Rev, this is a school where we need to be in at. It is about to be a perpetual top team in the nation loaded with premier talent. |

We are there, as evidenced by the offers in the last couple of years. But, it might take an actual commitment to Tennessee (who would become an ambassador, of sorts) in order to overcome prejudice toward the Vols. |

The only players that we have ever signed that ever played at Ensworth was Antonio Richardson and when he left in mid-season, it left a bad taste in everyone;s mouth at Ensworth. |

Can't please everyone. There are lots of schools in the Nashville Metro area that are producing prospects now. Anyone who might hold one dust up by Barnett against Tennessee is just turning over rocks to find a reason to be belligerent. Edited by LonzoVol, Jan 18 2014, 12:23 PM.

Richardson would not have qualified if NOT for leaving Ensworth. Ensworth is a school much like MBA and Brentwood Academy. They have rich white kids and give scholarships to up and coming athletes. If Bowers going to hold UT accountable for the actions of a player on an opposing team, then he's a dumbass. |

^This......But some of our fans believe our staff should go and tickle Ensworth's staff balls and make-em happy. We are getting back in on schools we haven't been in in a while. If Ensworth got their wittle feeling hurt...screw-em! Good Grief!! |

Bowers is a prick. I personally kicked his ass up and down the field in high school, as my team waxed his undefeated team in the old Clinic Bowl. Ensworth is the creation of Thomas and Bill Frist. |

Seems to me we didn't have a lot of luck harvesting the talent at Brentwood either. |

I was reading a thread this morning discussing this very subject, and some close to the Ensworth program cited the following reasons:
