Let's be honest…..the previous DCs at UGA were thought to be good hires and all were highly credentialed.

The proof will be in the pudding.

H'mmm Pruitt - the DC for the national champions FSU. Good ole boy from Alabama, where IIRC is a legendary former High school coach..

Gotta say UGa gets it right more often than not defensively.

I'm trying to figure out why this is a good hire. Three championships in a row ... do people rub his bald head and National Championships appear?

A few observations:
(1) Florida State's defense was #1 in 2012 ... it was #2 in 2013
(2) Florida State allowed 10.7 ppg in 2012 ... it allowed 12.1 in 2013
(3) Florida State allowed 268 ypg in 2012 ... it allowed 254 in 2013

In other words, I don't see any magic in a bottle. He just took over the best defense in the nation and didn't screw it up. By the way, Herbstreit is saying that Sunseri is his guess for the DC position at Florida.

:smh:

Haw, haw Texie Pooph, the Beef Chavez could have coached that defense to a national title. Talking heads estimate eight starters will play in the NFL.

IMHO they won't be taking away the national championship ring he won (and IIRC Chavis still has his national championship ring from Tennessee) now that he has changed jobs.

Since you bring up talking heads - Alabama isn't lacking with NFL caliber defensive players themselves - and unlike some I could care less about the NFL..

Added bonus to UGa - again IIRC Pruitt was named by the "talking heads" as a "national recruiter of the year" in the recent past..

The Dawgs get a good coach, with a national championship as a DC, and a premier recruiter to top it off.
