The NFL thinks the Titans made the best hire out there. All good points above my reply especially about retreads.

I can understand the Titans, but Detroit. Now tell me how great a Head Coach Caldwell is going to be. The only conclusion that I can come up with as to why the Lions would pick him is that they want to continue the tradition of losing.

Whiz got a longer deal than most coaches get with 4 of the years fully guaranteed. This tells me that that he is probably getting a pass for the 2014 season. Fans won't like hearing that, but the team does not have a healthy QB heading into the season and Whiz may be transitioning the team to a 3-4 defensive scheme.

It is hilarious to listen to the national media bellyaching about Whiz choosing the Titans over the very talented Detroit Lions team. Brian Barnwell, Steve Mariuchi are acting like jilted brides over Whisenhunt's decision to go to Tennessee. They can't believe it.

Detroit's franchise QB needs an over haul. That is why they turned to Caldwell after Whis chose the Titans.

I think that Caldwell gets a bad rap because of his stoic appearance on the sidelines. Many fans like to see a coach show fire and emotion.

Behind the scenes, players say that Caldwell is a really good coach and he is respected by the players.

I still say that Stafford is going to get a few more coaches fired before he is finished.

Mooch is a Michigan guy. Most of the NFL chatter has been that the Titan's got the best coach of all the new hires. Good for them. Most of the NFL had Whis going to Detroit b/c of the franchise QB already being in place. All of us who saw it this way were wrong.

I don't know about the changing to the 3-4. Correction--he just told Kuharsky that they would be a 4-3 multiple team. I will be interested in who he chooses for a DC.

Ray Horton is who most believe his DC will be.

Saw a report that Munch was interviewing with the Browns for their HC job. As far as Whisenhunt, look where he has worked and lived for over a decade. Warm climates, nice cities. Again, it makes perfect sense to me that he would take the Tennessee job particularly if he got a better deal. Detroit is an underachieving team and the Baghdad of the midwest. Whis will save a small fortune in taxes not paid alone. He is a good football coach and the Titans needed an offensive minded coach for a change. I think he is gong to do a great job in Nashville.

per John McClain

One big reason that Whisenhunt chose the titans over the Lions was that the Lions wanted to keep certain assistants.

per total rumor

The 1 million extra Whisenhunt was asking was above what Ruston/ Tommy offered, but it was put to a family vote by Tommy and the other members voted to give him the money.

Tommy Smith is going to be much better owner than Bud was.

Clevleand is amess-from Haslam on down.

I am glad that Haslam never became the owner of the Titans, as was once rumored a few years ago.

The Browns are in a good position, as they have 10 picks in the upcoming draft. I believe that they have 2 picks in each of the first 4 rounds.

Why Ken Whisenhunt Chose The Tennessee Titans

- Immediate rapport with Ruston Webster

- Less pressure to "win now" as opposed to Detroit

- City of Nashville

- Tommy Smith's "aggressive" approach

- Detroit's looming salary cap issues

They said Friday the Titans are going to spend some money this off season for positions of need. Not as much as last off season but not chump change either.
