I hope no one is surprised. This was a typical Martin-corched game. For three years now, just when you think this team is on their way, this is what happens. Jarnell was awful in this game. I now believe that the best thing that can happen is that this team does not make the NCAA tournament, thus eliminating any chance that Martin gets a raise and extension. As long as he is the corch at UT, he will never have a more experienced, talented team than he has this year. Five losses already and this one won't be the last one.

Louisville's Administrators swallowed their pride and brought back Petrino. There should be nothing holding UT's Administrators from swallowing their pride and bringing Bruce Pearl back.

Obviously the situation is now almost a mirror image of last year. The team had a margin of error of one home court loss. That is now gone. The team cannot afford another home court loss and now must win at least two more road games to be assured of an NCAA berth. It most likely will come down to another bubble watch, with the team needing two wins in the SEC tournament to get into the big dance. It's annoying and maddening.
I truly hope that Bruce Pearl will return as the coach of the Big Orange. The fan base is fractured now with the vast majority no longer willing to cut Martin any additional slack.
Last Friday in the War Room, Brent Hubbs stated that the Vols would go into Rupp with a 3-0 league mark. Needless to say I thought that to be an outlandish and dangerous statement considering the history of Martin coached teams at UT. Unless McRae goes off, the AllBarn game will not be a gimme either. That's just the way it is right now with the hoops program. Martin very much reminds me of Don DeVoe and Kevin O'Neil, a defensive minded coach that just can't muster any brilliant offense when it is so desparately needed late in a ball game.
