It's almost halftime... a couple of notes:

Watch how we force their guards in the direction they don't want to go:

They are forcing the point guard to go right and Baker to go left. Hard to believe there are one handed dribblers in major college bb, but it's clearly taken them out of their offense.

When wichita presses full court and drops into the zone....we stop running our offense and stand around.
A good example of how switching defenses bogs down the other team.

We aren't getting many offensive rebounds....with Stokes playing a high post, our offensive rebounds suffer.

If we hit our layups and free throws...we're up by eight.

The second freshman to step up....DAVIS. He looks very comfortable and is making big plays. Once Hubbs figures things out, we're in good shape with our bench.

We are missing too many lay ups. Maymon is clearly intimidated down low against a taller man. Stokes is a no show.

Did either team hit a field goal in the last 4 minutes?

We are doing a good job of shutting their guards down after the initial 5 minutes of the game where the basket was as big as an ocean for them.

AJ Davis gave some quality minutes. We need Barton or somebody else to help knock down some jumpers.

A pretty good first half....Wichita's offense really cooled off once we controlled their guards. We could honestly rip them up in the second half...our talent is better. Not saying it will happen, but once we sit in the locker room for a bit and realize that we've played them even with Stokes scoring what??...zero points....we should go out in the second half and feel pretty confident.

Cotton and Early are KILLING us.

Maymon, Stokes, and Richardson might as well have stayed home. They have been NO SHOWS.

Disappointing....I'm really not sure why we have Barton playing at the point. He does nothing to run the team. We could have easily won this game...and we let it get away

We had them where we wanted in the second half when Stokes hit that fast break jam off a great pass by Thompson.

Then for three straight possessions, Richardson put up bricks. He's not the guy we need shooting the ball at critical times.

Burton isn't a point guard. He needs to play the wing and we need to start Thompson. We played much better on offense when he was in the game, he can get the ball inside, Burton can't.

We got out coached. Marshall is a heck of a coach and his switching to a zone hurt us. And their guard Cotton lit us up at the same time Richardson was laying bricks and the next thing you know, we are down 10 points with 4 minutes to go.

We missed too many free throws and we missed easy inside shots the few times we got the ball inside. As I said before, when McRae is shooting the ball more than 12 times or so, we are gonna get beat by a decent team. Jordan was 8-17.

Why? Cause McRae firing up a lot of shots, means our inside game is not functioning.

Cotton guarding McRae and deflecting that pass into the air and getting a steal during that general time period hurt as well.

We didn't handle their press well. We made some bone headed plays, like Thompson throwing the ball across the time line to McRae, who was immediately trapped in the corner. Thompson has to learn never to throw that pass, and McRae should know better than to position himself at that place against a trapping press.

Hell, JV taught his 6 graders better than that.

**edit note**

Tux I think our last two posts in this thread were intended for the Witchatawtaw state thread.

Do you ever wonder why it is, that you manage to piss off the vast majority of people on every board you inhabit? The above is a good example of why......

Out of the 8 of 17, how many were threes? He is the best player on the team and will play in the NBA next year. I really can't say that about another player on this team. I do know this, Martin better put together about a 10 game winning streak and soon. The critics and skeptics are lining up against him and I don't know that he does not deserve much of the negative vibes that are out there right now!

This teams offense is designed to work inside to Stokes but scores best and most consistently with McRae.

Don't be so touchy, JV.

I just made a small joke. Perhaps I missed the mark and if so I apologize.

Do you want me not to post here?
