Actually the Redskins cancelled that interview because they felt that they had their man and that their sources told them that Franklin was likely headed to Penn State. That was from 104.5 the Zone on the mid day 180 and 3hl last night.

Penn State offered Jimmy Franks last night. The PSU President and AD flew to Destin, FL to meet with Jimmy and offer him.

Yeah, it sure seemed that this is the conclusion with the events of last night.

If Franklin were to accept the job, I wonder how he leaves? Is he a "team meeting, tears, and hugs" kind of coach (like Jones) or a "screw you all" kind of coach (like Kiffin)? I believe he is more like Jones, but it is hard for me to read the genuineness of a salesman until a day like this.
Jimmy would meet with his team. He has a bit of class in him.

If he was offered the PSU HC, he should go. They have had the best years in football recently and Franks was still out and about pleading with fans to attend the WF game. He won't have that problem at PSU.
They were dang near close to giving money to people so that they would take a ticket ... I think if you bought a chalupa at Taco Bell in the Nashville area, it came with two complimentary tickets on the 30.
Rev, true story…back in the Fred Pancoast era, Vandy was so desperate for fans that they had a promotion with a local bread company(Bunny Bread). You could get a Vandy game ticket inside each loaf of Bunny Bread.

UPDATE: There's no formal offer for James Franklin to become Penn State's head coach, but he's still frontrunner. (via ESPN & media reports)

Legalese: Jimmy Franks has not accepted our "non-offer" and we will not "offer" until he has accepted the job.

That's what I might think, but it takes quite an extra level of courage to affirm one's loyalty over and over to the players and then bolt on them. Charlie Strong was that type of coach. He talked frequently about his commitment to them, but once the Texas offer was a done deal, he didn't meet with the players.

IMO it looks like JF will be on West End. again next season. PS boards even saying they think he's not coming.

Something I didn't think about.....JF has a big ego....going to Penn State when they are still under huge NCAA sanctions and another 2-3 years of bowl bans doesn't fit well with JFs ego. IMO they will settle with someone who's not a head coach....but wants to be HC bad enough they don't care about the sanctions.

Jimmy Franks is Penn State bound.

Who does Vandy target for their open head coaching position?

Mike McIntyre would be my guess.

Not sure he would leave after 1 year.....Believe it or not, the next coach at Vandy has some shoes to fill. Did I just post that?

It's true. This is a critical hire if Vandy wants to continue rising. Like Louisville after losing Petrino, they've got to hire a Strong and not a Kragthorpe.

Strong go down to Lexington and find out how to bolt on his players? Oh, I almost forgot, that guy who's now at Lexington took his recruits with him.
