I get that sense by reading the PS boards......Many want JF.....several like the idea of Munch....and now many are jumping on Roman bandwagon. They seem to think Roman will be there for the long haul were many think JF will bolt for the NFL in 2-3 years. Many want a PS connection......When a program had the same coach for over 40 years and now they are hiring their 2nd coach in a little over 2 years their fan base is in a frenzy. Many on their board feel JF is playing this to get a pot-load of money out of Vandy and even some say when it's said and done JF will be the 2nd highest paid coach in the SEC behind Saban. I know this....they think less of their admins up there than we do at UT. Edited by Tnphil, Jan 8 2014, 12:24 PM.

Roman is an NFL guy, and I think he's more likely to jump to an NFL head coach position than Franklin. Roman also has zero ties to PSU ... at least Franklin was born in the state. |

Yahoo Sports (Pat Forde) is reporting that Petrino is going to be returning to his old stepping stone, Louisville: http://sports.yahoo.com/news/sources--bobby-petrino-returning-for-second-stint-as-louisville-s-head-coach-174716054.html Edited by OrangeRev, Jan 8 2014, 01:29 PM.

Sometimes an AD should sit back and evaluate his assets and see if what he has is a real attraction to an established coach or even an up-and-comer. I'm thinking about the opening at KY when Calipari would have given his eye teeth for the job. What Mitch should have done was tell Calipari the job would pay him about half of what he wa making in Memphis. Heck, for that matter, Calipari probably would have taken the job for no pay. He wanted it that bad. I remember when the job was open before, he said he asked Ellen, his wife, "if they had called". Does that tell you anything? AD's are throwing money around like the Feds when, in my opinion they don't have to. |

Great move by Louisville. My guess is that Petrino has learned his lesson and that he won't screw up again. IMHO the Cards will end up with a better corch than what they had. Petrino is the one who built Louisville into a very good football program B4 and he will do it again. I know Western Ky. was hoping to keep him for at least three years, but the dominoes just didn't fall their way. |

Louisville did what IU would have done. Petrino rebuilt the program there and left to try the NFDL. He burned bridges everywhere he has been. Louisville likely went to him and told him, "We know your past record and we know that nobody else has come calling on you. We would like to have you back because we believe in you, but we will only do it on our terms and we will make it difficult for you to leave. This will be your final stop". |

I will add that the reason that I would have hired Petrino myself, is because after Petrino left, the program went downhill fast. They caught lightning in the bottle with Strong and if they made a hire that they were not familiar with and were taking a gamble that it would work…and it did not work, then the program would die, heading into the ACC. |

LIstening to the 104.5 180 today and the Penn State media has picked up on the Vandy rape case and are really pouncing on it. Think that was not instigated by the Paterno supporters? The guys on the radio are wondering how much this will influence Penn State's decision. The trial of the players is not until August and the players said that Jimmy Franks told them to delete the video or anything like that, then Jimmy Franks becomes and accessory to the crime. That wouldn't look good for Penn State considering their child rape and child sonly issues. Jimmy Franks could be back in Nashville. Their AD, David Williams, was on the radio today as well. They have offered the sun and the moon for Jimmy Franks to stay. I don;t believe that money will be enough. He wants more than that. Jimmy is a smart guy. I think he is a damn good coach, but even he can not withstand the infusion of talent that UT, UF, SC, and Georgia are seeing. |

If Frankie doesn't get the PSU job, then there aren't any other options for him in college other than staying at Vandy ... which I no longer think is a good option for him or the school because he clearly has one foot out the door, and this will be used heavily in this and the next recruiting cycle. He's dead man walking. I surmise he would find something in the pros, perhaps at the coordinator level if nothing gels with the head coach positions. |

College coaches are rarely successful in the NFL. NFL coaches are rarely successful in college. There are a few exceptions, but not too many. |
