I didn't watch the game either, Tux. According to UTsports.com we dominated them in the paint and Stokes got another double double. I'm sure the staff had a "come to Jesus" discussion after the loss to UTEP. I don't know why we just check out at times for an entire game and don't play ball. The first Xavier game and the UTEP game was like watching an entirely different basketball team than the other games. |

i did get to see it....and we looked pretty good. Martin said at halftime that it was a pride thing and I agree. It was quite a feat to play roughly fourteen or fifteen hours after our previous game....and play as well as we did yesterday. Xavier couldn't handle our forwards...Maymon's starting look like Maymon from year before last. But the key was our defense that had X completely out of sync. We were challenging shots. passes....we even challenge substitutions (well...maybe not). I feel better than I did yesterday at this time.....I'm curious which UT team will show up for today's game.... |

Looking at the box score stats from the X game, it appears CCM cut the playing time of some of our random substitutes by quite a bit. We've had various groups on the court together at different times and that can harm a team's chemistry. Looks like we stuck with our starters longer and our primary subs are the three freshmen, with nobody else getting more that a couple or four minutes playing time. http://www.utsports.com/sports/m-baskbl/stats/2013-2014/ut1129.html Maybe Coach Martin has settled the question of who is gonna play, so they've got time to mesh before conference play. Jolly is right, these early season bad losses could keep us out of the NCAA tournament. We can't afford another one. A win against Wake Forest today would help make up for the UTEP loss.
