I believe that all or most of them were Brian Kelly recruits.

Cinci does not have any linemen that are NFL Prospects. They had Isaiah Peed and Kenbrell Thompkins drafted.

The OL Fisher drafted by KC, was at Central Michigan. He has a lot of potential but he is still light for a tackle and has to put on some weight.
I want to apologize for the length. I am sure all posters have better things to do than see me blather on. With that said, here I go:

I give ya Peed and Thompkins. I'll raise you Conner Barwin Eagles, Armon Binns Dolphins, Brent Celek Eagles, Trent Cole Eagles, Daniel Giordano Cards, Vidal Hazelton Jets, Kevin Huber Bengals, John Hughes Browns, Jason Kelce Eagles, Travis Kelce Chiefs, Jeffrey Linkenbach Volts, RIcardo Mathews Colts, Adrien Robinson Giants, J K Schaffer Bengals, Mike Windt Chargers, Derek Wolke Broncos.

Cin has 18 players in the NFL. UT has 31.

Central Mich has OL Eric Fisher and Joe Staley OT 49ers that will have better careers than our current fab 5 OL, imo. I'll throw in Antonio Brown WR Steelers and Cullen Jenkins DT Giants. Those 4 pretty darn good. Mich turned down Fisher, Butch did not. How many times have we missed on good players b/c of bad evaluations from the last 3 staffs? I bet Phil and Lonzo can name a bunch of players that Fulmer, Kiffin and Dooley missed on. This staff is recruiting their arses off by the rules. How long has it been since we could say that--1997?

UT fans are more familiar with UT's players. This makes them better than what they are. If you want to argue that our guys are under developed b/c or all the coaching changes than I will agree with you somewhat. Butch has a very good history with the NFL of putting well coached, intense players into the NFL who can take the hard coaching it takes in the NFL to be a winner. Sound like anybody we know? Hint-he'll be coaching in the Iron Bowl this weekend. I am not saying Butch is the 2nd coming, but he gives us a chance.

I don't follow HS recruiting very much. Got tired of living and dying with decisions made by 17 and 18 y/o's. That is insane to me. I count on Tux, Rev, Phil and Lonzo for info. I pass along info I hear from Hubbs or Doug Matthews. The NFL is different. I follow the draft. I follow what former GMs, scouts and personnel people say about future draft picks and players in the league. I have a wild card in that I am close to somebody who can find things out with his contacts in the league. College coaches recruit. NFL GM's select. Big difference.

So your point is Butch can't recruit, Butch can't coach or both?

My point was that the majority of Cinci players currently in the NFL were Brian Kelly players. Butch's recruits are still in school.

So, Butch has ridden the coat tails of Brian Kelly and has absolutely nothing to do with his success at both UC and CMU? His assistants think enough of him to follow him to UC and UT. Using your thought process then Franklin at Vandy isn't any good b/c he is playing Bobby Johnson's recruits. Right?

I believe Butch and staff are pretty good at player appraisal. I believe they recruit hard which is what it takes to win at UT. They give us a chance.

Butch and staff inherited a group of players that don't know what it takes to win. That are not dedicated, until this year, to doing anything and everything it takes to win. I believe when the coaching fraternity, both NFL and NCAA, says a guy can coach and be successful that he will.

The SRs and JRs of 117 have had a very rough go. I do not blame them. They have been thru anywhere from 3 to 5 coaching changes at their position. I have seen improvement. I in no way saw the win against USC coming or taking UGA to OT. What a difference 2012 would have been if those 2 things had happened. i am encouraged.

Butch and staff just don't hope things get done--like weight lifting, going to class, etc. They check on it personally. They have a former pro personnel guy, Bob Welton, who spent 9 years as a scout for the Browns. You just don't make it 9 yrs with a pro team without being any good. I believe this gives us an edge. No more Bammer retreads.

Some on here have been gloom, despair and agony on me. You just don't walk thru the door and change a program as far down at UT is. Butch has said from the start that it is a process. I believe him and believe in him. We will be young, but more talented next year. Talent gives us a chance. Have there been mistakes? Oh, hell yes. Is it frustrating? Yes. Am I discouraged? No.

Wow. Butch can't help that those players were recruited by Kelly. That is just how it works.

He has come to UT with all of it's infrastucture and a big recruiting budget. With that he has proven that he can recruit with anyone. He just has to step up his game day sideline adjustments to allow the talent to take over.

Coaches follow the money and they are receiving boat loads of it to do a job. At the money these coordinators make they should call a perfect game every time. In fact, all coaches are overpaid.
