I believe in a balanced attack with an emphasis on ripping off large chunks of yardage and the pass is the best way to accomplish that.

The days of 15 play drives are long past us. The objective is to score more points than the other teams. Even Alabama has gotten into the offensive aerial attack these days.

Butch throws the ball, but I do not like the slide drop that we use and the routes that we run in it so far. I have no problem with the run portion of the game.

Now phil would love to go back to running the sing wing or maybe even the wishbone.

LOL Tux.....we go after each other all in fun...or it is for me.

Butch admitted today in his presser he wants to throw deep and have players that goes up and makes plays. We just didn't have the players on each-end of the pass play to do it this year....QB or WR.

Admit it.....Worley was getting better...it showed in the GA and USC game...the playbook was being expanded and then (UT LUCK) Worley gets hurt. We wouldn't have beaten Bama, Mizzou or Auburn with Worley because we couldn't stop them....but we would have beaten Vandy IMO....our defense played well enough to beat them...The offense with a freshman that went bat-shit crazy and freshman WRs that didn't help him out cost us the game. We couldn't even complete a short pass or gain yards on screens.

Phil, I love the back and forth banter with you. I know that you understand the game well. You are also good natured like myself and can have fun with it.

Worley was getting better, but I still hate the pass routes used.

Just remember....CP with the Vikings still can't run correct routes and he's in the NFL....our freshman WR's couldn't either....They'll learn.

The thing is, we will have all freshmen WRs next season with the exception of North, Pig, and maybe Croom.

It really hurt us when North got hurt on Saturday. It's like all the wind went out of our passing game. All Vandy had to do was cover Pig and they did.

I do wonder why we didn't light up that 2nd team secondary Vandy was reduced to playing in the second half. Maybe their second teamers are good.

Or maybe we had no confidence in our qb and wrs, almost all freshmen, and were clinging to a three point lead and trying to eliminate mistakes and eek out a win.

Then I've got to explain how a fake field goal on 4th and 19 fits into that conservative second half approach.

The fake FG was as good as a punt...and hell it might have worked.

Something was wrong with Palardy...he wasn't right.

I agree with you. Tux Said that we have to be patient and give Jones a chance. That was at the beginning of the season but look at Tux now a depressed emotional guy who says Jones has failed. He has shown no patience. He never says anything negative about Dooley. He nitpicks when it comes to Jones. He boasts about his football knowledge but his analysis is void of reality.

BJ, BJ, BJ, you need to go back and re-read whatever you were reading to come up with your notions of what I posted. Heck, you should look into becoming a great fiction writer.

I agree with that Tux. And if Butch Jones doesn't wake up to this fact, then we are screwed. A successful SEC coordinator has got to have the capacity to make an adjustment to take advantage of situations like this.
FR QB played like a FR QB last Saturday. I think they were scared to death that he would turn the ball over deep in our territory and Vandy was having a hard time scoring on our defense. Coaches knew Vandy's 2nd team DBs were in the game, but didn't trust the QB to be accurate or the WRs to make a play. Josh Smith could have made that one deep catch and all would have been forgiven for all the drops this year. Cody Blanc ran right by the CB on a WR screen and got the WR killed. Those 2 may be headed to defense.

We were one play call on 3rd and 1 at midfield from running the clock out. Later was the 1st over turn of a 4th and short QB sneak that I have seen since replay came to the college game. I have seen plays in space that remarked the ball and plays where you could see the the ball cross the goal line, but never a guess at a pile of players where you couldn't see the ball plainly. He probably made it, but that was a tough one.
Butch said today in his presser that we haven't been able to go down the field this whole season like he wants to do....On both INTs against Vandy the WRs had a big part in it.....The 1st the WR fell down and that was where the ball was suppose to be....not Dobbs fault.....The other INT Dobbs was out of the pocket and the WR was suppose to come back to Dobbs and didn't, CBJ said Dobbs should have thrown it away when the WR screwed up.

Go watch CBJ's Monday's presser video on utsports.com. You learn a lot that us folks on chat-boards are clueless about and just want to bitch and moan.
Thankie Phil.

s low in talent as this team is, we still had more talent on this team than he ever did at Cincinnati.
I don't know about that. UC has several players starting in the NFL. To compare well coached, inspired UC teams to uninspired UT teams in 2011 and 2012, well I just don't know if I agree with you there. I could be wrong.

IIRC one of his former players was taken in the top 6 in this last NFL draft.

Cinci does not have any linemen that are NFL Prospects. They had Isaiah Peed and Kenbrell Thompkins drafted.

The OL Fisher drafted by KC, was at Central Michigan. He has a lot of potential but he is still light for a tackle and has to put on some weight.
