We aren't close to that and won't be for a long time. We are in no better position to "turn it around" the day before Butch got here than we were the day Fulmer left ... In fact we were WORSE off the day he walked in.

We suck ... And that's just a fact ... We are a shell of our former program. We hired jones and we shall see what happens. But why is a surprise to anyone that we suck?

It is what it is ... No coach, player, or anything else will change that by itself. And the ONLY thing that will change any of it is CONSISTENCY.

I'm "all in" with Butch .... Because he's ours. God bless him for even trying to take on the absolute train wreck of an abortion that is our program right now. The easy thing to do would have been to hang at Cinci ... But he believes UT is a class program and has made REAL changes to right the ship.

The influx of legacy kids will be the best thing that ever happened to this program and it may take 4 years ... But I honestly believe THEY, Jones, and above all CONSTANCY has a damn good shot of turning it around.

That's my message ... And in honor of Butch ... I plan on being CONSISTENT with it to do my part.

I agree that the UT football program is probably bigger than Cincy and Jones took on the challenge, but just remember there was a hell of lot more money given to him just to take on that challenge. The "best coaching staff to be assembled" got a lot of money too.

I'm at the point that I expect a return on the investment. He doesn't have the players? OK, i"ll go along with that, but tell me one player that has improved since September 1. Personnel not good enough to compete in the SEC is one thing, but improving players is another. Improving players is the way to win games and they are being paid to win.

So much in that that post that is dead on, main thing is consistencey beacause is takes more than one year to develop talent, ESPECIALLY SEC talent.

I take consolation that we aren't Florida.

I also believe that Butch Jones and staff will bring us back. Remember, he was 3-9 his first year at Cincy.

It's all about talent and recruiting. And he's set to bring in immediate help next year with Jucos and highly touted freshmen.

This year's team has played to it's potential. They played hard and never gave up on the season, nor in a game.

I'm curious how we play next week against Kentucky, will their pride carry them to give their all again, or will they just give up? This is a week where we tell what foundation our coaches are really creating.

Dooley's teams gave up in games and during the season. Fulmer's teams did the same. Can CBJ escape that fate this year?

I agree with a lot in Birny's post. It is common sense.

I want Butch to succeed. He is going to b given an opportunity to turn things around. He works hard in selling the program to the players, the recruits and the fans. His cliches and phrases will only go so far if he is not winning. He has to do a better job on the sidelines on game day than he did this past season. Despite not having talent to match up with teams like Alabama, there are still decisions making issues that have to improve no matter what the talent level is.
