The guy is fast compared to other big guys, but he has been playing WR and struggles against faster and quicker defenders in open space. It is time to move him to tight end, where we can match him up on safeties and linebackers, rather than on corners who can cover him in their sleep. Tight ends do not have to be lined up next to the tackle. You can split them wide, you can split them 3 or 5 yards. Edited by TennesseeTuxedo, Nov 24 2013, 12:14 PM.

I doubt if Croom would be an effective blocker required to be a TE. |

He doesn't have to be a great blocker. Use him in sets that would pair him against a safety or linebacker. You can move him all over the field to move a safety off of a hash, into the boundary to create a blocking mismatch-there are all kinds of ways to use a tight end. Do you think that Gronkowksi or Gates are good blocking tight ends? |

I know you have listened to Frank Wycheck talk about the need to be able to block as a TE. |

In a two tight end set, you can move the tight end anywhere. Tight ends are not always going to have to double down on a defensive tackle or take on a defensive end head on. I am saying that you subtilize Croom as a WR -but in sets as him lined up in the tight end role-not the spot next to the OT. There is a difference between that and him playing wide receiver.
