We all have heard and loved all of the Butch-speak of "the process", "brick by brick", and "unacceptable at Tennessee" stuff in the presser. But bottom line is there has to be results on the field. And outside of a game and a half, we've been terrible. Butch is not going anywhere because we can't afford to make a change anytime soon. However…... Is the honeymoon over? |

I never went on a honeymoon with him. I tried my best to withhold judgement until after this season as to my opinion of him. Since the season is for all intents and purposes -- or intensive purposes, if one chooses -- over, my jury just came in. I think he's a mid-level coach trying to use the same gimmicks that worked at mid -level programs at a big-time SEC program. His team mailed it in post South Carolina. He's recruiting well. That's what will save this program, and we all know it. But his performance, the WAY the team lost this year, was, to borrow his words, unacceptable. So for now, I'm doubtful that he's a good coach. But time will tell. |

Based on...? The fact that I refused to go all in on yet another UT coach? The fact that we're now looking at an identical record -- if we beat UK -- that we had the past two seasons under Dooley? I'm not saying fire the man. That would be foolish. I'm saying that I have doubts that he's a good coach. And lack of talent notwithstanding, this team regressed post SC. |

Coaching is coaching and football is football, it doesn't matter what conference you play in. Sure things have to get better.....but we have to rid the loser attitude that this team has had and that started tonight with the 28 seniors last home game. I WILL NOT miss ONE of them. Tonight we had a true freshman playing like a true freshman playing a horrible game with no help....Our only WR threat went out in the first quarter and our passing game was DONE at that point. Our RBs ran hard and in hindsight we should have run them more and had a better run game plan. Vandy had a QB and WRs making plays and we had ZERO....NADA. Our defense played well enough to win. I said yesterday that if Vandy scored 20 points we'd lose....I missed it by 6. In 60 years of UT football this offense and defense is as bad as I can remember. It's going to take players and winners to get us back.....and lots of them!! |

You cannot be serious about this statement. The Vols are playing against the second and third string DB's of Vandy, and we can't complete passes to Pig, Croom, or even Neal out of the backfield? There isn't a Tennessee team in the 20th or 21st centuries that wouldn't have salivated about such a matchup. This isn't about North, but about Dobbs and Bajakian. We threw some to the edges tonight and it didn't get us much did it? We had a good pass by Dobbs that Pig couldn't handle and Smith had one hit him in the facemask. Yep, we looked real good doing it, didn't we? When North went out the down the field passing game was hurt bad......Wonder how good Vandy would have been without their stud? We haven't thrown to backs out of the backfield all season.....I can't answer to why not. |
