I don't know what to call this thread other than Recruiting Reconstruction. This is going to be a very fluidic situation full of change and overhauling of our recruiting season. It is a complete reconstruction of our recruiting targets and process.
Zanca was not going to fit into our new 4-3 scheme. Nothing to cry about here. |

We are going to see a lot of churn with middle of the road 3* prospects like Zanca. And, yes, nothing to get upset about because they are easily replaced. |

I'm not sure that I like what BJ is replacing these guys with. They are guys that Cinci was willing to settle for and not nearly the caliber that even Dooley had lined up. |

BJ was in Kansas today meeting with Devondre Campbell and Ben Bradley. Bradley is still looking at Oklahoma and Miami along with Nebraska. That scares me, because we really could use him with all of the guys reportedly leaving. |

Hearing we may lose both Devondre Campbell and Ben Bradley. Both could have been difference makers. |

When you fire all of the coaches that had been recruiting them what else can you expect? Recruits today don't remember TN ever having been really good. We will continue to suck for several more years I suspect. |

If Jones can't bring in big time talent instead of players that fit his system, he won't coach at UT more than 3 seasons. The fans will not put up with garbage on the field any longer. |

I am deeply concerned that we are losing commitments and then going after guys that Cincinnati was recruiting. Big East level players will not compete in the SEC.

Jones has to realize he needs the top talent to compete for championships. Does he even watch the elite SEC teams play? He'd better start watching some games to see the kinds of talent he's going to need. I guess UT will pay him $10M to go away too. |

I've not really reved up my recruiting brain in the last couple of days, but there are 2-3 players on that Cincy commitment list that UT would want. And, alternatively, there are about 6 of our commitments that are not big losses. |

Jones is very aware of the type of recruits he needs to win in the SEC. It's tough to come in and expect a top notch class this year. But he'll start developing relationships and getting better recruits. He has a lot of ground to make up with HS coaches after Dooley. But he has been a winner all his life, so things will improve at Tenn. |

Looks like to me that they are going after more AllBarn recruits and commits than Cincinnati's. Let's wait and see who they start to bring in on visits before we join HermitageVol in a meltdown one week into Coach Jones' tenure at Tennessee.

No, it's not. He's getting paid big-boy money, he is expected to recruit accordingly and from day 1. If he cant deliver the recruits that will win games we hired the wrong guy. If this class is not top 10, top 15...he's in trouble early. |

Zippy Why should it be a top 10 class? Maybe it's our won-loss record that attracts recruits? Or the relationships that Dooley developed with HS coaches. Or maybe it's Smokey, the smartest administrator at Tennessee! |
