Saban was a failure in the NFL. In the college game, Saban can control and the operative word is "control". He can control who his players are. He is the person that can determine who he wants and will settle for on his team. He is the person who controls how the practice is run, what everyone does, what the coaches teach, what the players do on and off the field, etc... He has total and complete control of a process that some other coaches are drawing experience from. His system will never work in the NFL, but in the collegiate game it is the system that is the new standard. |

The list of coaching failures in the NFL is a long, and rather illustrious one - and a majority of the NFL coaches are "systems" - and win only when they have experienced talent - few have the ability to coach'em up and win - your boy Jeff Fisher being a classic example - good with experienced players, i.e. the Oilers - then drive the team in to the dirt. That includes the current bunch in Nashville. Speaking of Miami, the team Saban coached - well in case you haven't paid attention - failure is Miami is the routine. Look at the former NFL head coaches who've the opportunity to lead a good college team and failed miserably.. In other words their systems, unsuccessful in the NFL, failed at places like Texas A&M, and Nebraska... Replace them with bright guys who know how to coach - and what happened? As to the standard set by Saban - well yak all you want about the NFL - Alabama under with Saban is making the NFL in to a Alabama dominated professional sport.. |

The NFL is called the copy cat league. Saban was the reason for failure in Miami. He tried to control every waking moment of paid professionals. They are not in college anymore and a coach can not treat them like college kids. Bottom line from some on the know...Nick Saban was a shitty NFL coach. |
