Hurd a running back ?

There has been much discussion about Hurd's future . I know he's a bit tall, but does he have running back skills? Plus, the Vols haven't had a sure fire over the top goal line attack since Little Man Stewart. I know some posters on here have actually seen the kid play. What say you?

Yesterday....today....tomorrow Hurd is a RB...one of the best we have signed in a long time...

In 2014 if Hurd shows up on campus at 250-260-280 then who knows!!!

If Hurd was on campus this season and where he is now size wise...and CBJ didn't have him at RB then Butch should be run out of town on the first Greyhound bus that leaves the station!!!

Period....End of story.

he is a rb, unless or until he gets to 6 5 or so. just are not any rbs that tall for a reason. if he gets that tall, he'll end up as an olb.

little man was 6 1, in cleats.

Why a TE? Why not a RB?

Why would you want to even consider making this kid a TE or LB?

Tux....I'm fully convinced that UT fans are so surprised that we have gotten a stud running back that they are trying to convince themselves that he will never play RB.

More folks are trying to make him a TE...DE...DT...LB

Never seen nothing like it...The ONLY way he doesn't play RB is if he comes in at 6'5 and 250 or more or the like.

Anyone that watched Hurd play today...and said he's not a SEC RB is a TOTAL Baffoon.

He is a big back. He runs like a combination of Eric Dickerson and Eddie George. Another word for that is BEAST.

What about tight end?
ha ha ... I think what is happening is that we haven't signed a premiere running back in so long, Vol fans don't know what one looks like. So, we try to put him at another position.

Plus when the 2014 class arrives, Tennessee is going to have tight ends running out their proverbial ears. Have three now, two more coming in this summer and then Wolf and Helm will make seven.

I'm saying he wont be a 6'5" RB because...I cant think of a single 6'5" RB that was any good. Dickerson was 6'3". Brandon Jacobs was 6'4". Thats all I can think of. He's clearly the best RB on film we have recruited in at least 10 years, probably since Jamal. Real risk he may outgrow the position, though...

I wasn't saying move him, I was offering TE as an alternative if he does grow larger. Obviously, you want to get the ball in his hands, he looks to be a difference maker. Plus, maybe he redefines the size parameters of RB! A toss sweep with those long strides could be a killer!
