Humble Notre Dame went to the Atlantic Coast conference because they do not have to share their TV rights with the conference. |

Ahh ... now I understand where you are coming from. You are saying that ND has such value that they can command their own terms. Right? 1) I am not denying that Notre Dame is a valuable school, and if I had to guess they bring in more revenue than any other single school. 2) In the past, they were astronomically more valuable than any other single school. Today, they are slightly more valuable, and their stock is falling fast. Sure, they got a valuable apparel deal, but it was only slightly better than the deal Michigan signed a couple of years earlier (90 mil vs. 82 mil), and I guarantee you that when Tennessee signs its deal in 2015 that it will be larger than Notre Dame's deal simply because of competition and the rise of such things. 3) Because (a) their value is falling and (b) they are half-way into the ACC and (c) what BJVOL is reporting and (d) this super-tier that Tux is reporting, it is clear that Notre Dame will be fully in the ACC within a decade. |
