Is UT Football's Luck Changing?

Was today's Junior Day an omen for better time for the Vols football program?

Think about it......

* Several of the top junior football players in the country were visiting UT to take part in the Vols Junior Day.
* The basketball Vols spanked the defending Kentucky Wildcats like nobody has ever done before...on national television.
* Thompson-Boling Arena was en fuego today, as the fans were ontop of their game. It was loud and raucous inside.
* A few pics have surfaced of some juniorsmhaving a great time.
* It is Antonio Richardson's birthday and tonight he is throwing down.

Has the Fulmer Curse been lifted? The stars seem to be aligning.

When did Fulmer curse the basketball team?

So it's been his fault the Basketvols have played so poorly?

Wow!!!!

#Tennessee #Auburn #Georgia #Arkansas will have great recruiting class. I can already tell. #Bama will always rack em up of course.

It's the Dooley curse! He did more harm to the program than anyone. Kiffin is second. Get over Fulmer.

SEC basketball? Well, who cursed SEC basketball?

2014 football recruiting is rolling along - of passing interest - the son of Dallas Cowboy legend B. Bates, Dillon - several of the elites, IIRC have already offered.

Some if you have forgotten how every time UT football did anything- from recruiting at a football game to recruiting ara basketball game, something unfortunate happened that dampened the mood.

Not this time.

Right on, BJ! I believe Fulmer would have been better for the program than the clowns who followed him. Five years removed from the program and we're in worse shape. Hoping and believing Butch will fix the mistakes.

That's really not setting the bar very high.

The problem isnt that Fulmer got fired. The problem is who was hired to replace him, then to replace that one, and probably who replaced that one too.

Part of the problem is how Fulmer got fired.

I can't imagine how it could have been handled any more poorly.

You don't publicly humiliate a legendary coach (Dean of the SEC, IIRC) that is as orange as they come with zero plan for moving forward.

Then his replacements not only failed to solve the problem, but ultimately only made things worse.

This whole thing has been 30 wonderful flavors of stupid, IMO.

You say that as if there were any good way of firing Fulmer. There wasnt. That was a bandaid that could only be ripped off.

However, I dont really have any interest in discussing this further than I already have...at least not until you invent a time machine.

I disagree. IMO, The handling of Fulmer's abrupt temination was a PR nightmare that cost us in a variety of ways.

I think my primary point is the false assumption (many had) that whoever replaced Fulmer would step right in and fix everything.

So far that just hasn't happened.

I'm hoping Jones will be that guy, but won't allow myself to believe it until I actually see it.
