This is interesting and I believe will be a pure positive for this football team: http://www.utsports.com/sports/m-footbl/spec-rel/021213aac.html |

I am more and more impressed with Jones. He's more than coach. It's nice to see new ideas and a fresh approach to what has gotten pretty stale. |

I think Jones is a good coach, and I also think he's going to be a great motivator...at least if he can get the kids to buy into his schtick. That's something UT has not generally had. As much talent as Fulmer had during his run, he wasnt always the best at getting his guys ready to play every Saturday. Kiffin had his moments, like South Carolina...but his team laid a couple of eggs too (UCLA and the bowl game, for example). |

Zippy I think you are right. Fulmer's teams weren't always up for games even though he lost very few games to cupcakes. His teams played sloppy at times. I believe over the long run Kiffin would have had problems motivating the team like he is experiencing now at Sou Cal. He has talent there. Dooley did nothing but point out negatives of the team and it caught up to him. The fact that he didn't coach the last game tells me he lost the team. The word he use was "distraction" but he knew the team had no faith in him. Jones is refreshing and once he gets some athletes, he will make Tenn relevant again. It will take patience but I think he will do it. How much worst can it get. |

Until the day I die, I will believe Kiffin would have won big at UT had he stuck around. I said it at the time he left, terrible decision on his part. He should have won some games at UT while someone else came in and rode out the sanctions at USC, then took over there with a clean bill of health (and after actually doing accomplishing something on his own). Taking that job when he did was just not a good career move. |

I think you're right about Kiffin. In his one year here his team played very well against Alabama and somewhat against Florida, but was a disaster against Auburn, UCLA, Ole Miss, and Va. Tech. I never thought he was a good fit at Tennessee from the day they hired him. If you know any players from the 2012 team, talk to them and see what they tell you about Dools. Most everyone I've talked to were thrilled when he was fired, and were particularly happy that he didn't coach the last game. Jones is refreshing and has already done more positive things in 2 months than Dooley did in 3 years. I hope Jones proves out to be for real! Edited by runner, Feb 13 2013, 10:49 PM.

Jones will be fine if he learns how to close the deal in recruiting. Otherwise, he wont. |

I too think that you maybe right Zip. However, just one addendum, the NCAA. He was already pushing the envelope by sending Lacy Pearl and the other girl over to South Carolina. But really, it is starting to look more and more like he really blew it by bailing out on UT. Plus, I miss Layla! |

I like what BJ is trying to accomplish and how he is going about doing so. He is trying to help the young men look within themselves for the right answers and actions. |
