AV, I think you will like this!

Coach Jones sets a torrid pace. To wit, 15 year coaching veteran Tommy Thigpen, "I've never seen anything like this." I think you will see that they are going after the big fish in this new recruiting cycle.
Excerpt from a long, very good piece on Volquest:

Moreover, Jones doesn't ask of his coaches anything more than he does himself.

"Butch always talks about as the head coach it's his responsibility to create the vision of the program. To me, that's one of his greatest strengths. His vision and his ability to communicate that vision," Bajakian said. "He busts my chops a little bit; I think I'm a little more tunnel-visioned. I focus on the quarterbacks and the offense. He walks into our facility and sees blank wall-space and thinks 'Boy, what kind of mural can I plaster onto this wall to help send a message to our players, help send a message to our recruits?' Whereas I'm walking into this building and not even noticing the wall has changed. He's always thinking about how to motivate players, how to motivate recruits and it's part of his process 100 percent of the time."

A process that, Thigpen explained, comes at a pace the like of which the nearly 15-year coaching veteran has yet to see.

"I'll tell you, it's high. Gosh, I can't even compare him to anybody I've ever worked with. His mind is just non-stop, never idle," Thigpen said of Jones. "It's almost like a chess game and you've got to think four steps ahead of him, which is almost impossible. Because he wants new ideas, he wants energy. He wants to do things that haven't been done before.

"You'll be on the plane and it will be like 'Did you call this guy? Did you call this guy? Did you call his principal?' And you're like 'C'mon now.' He's on all of it. That's the way I recruit, but he kept me on my Ps and Qs whenever I was with him."

Unapologetically, Jones will not be changing that demanding approach.

It's a good sign. Tenn will be fine in a few years.

AV don't seem to be the type to be impressed over anything until he sees us win some games.

One thing is for sure though. He views Jones as the next Vince Lombardi compared to how he viewed Dooley.

AV would be accurate seeing Jones as the next Lombardi compared to Dooley.

I agree some with AV, especially on the part about Precious being the worst coaching hire of all time. I'm a little more optimistic than AV is about Jones, and I will see how this season goes and the 2014 recruiting class before saying much.

True on both accounts:

1) I am impressed when I see WINS in both recruiting and in games. And they go hand in hand. This finishing SECOND in recruiting does us not one bit of good. Talk is cheap. Get it done!

2) Jones is the combined Lombardi/Neyland/Bryant compared to THE worst HC in UT history and maybe THE worst SEC HC ever. But so would many High School HC's out there.

Burning Man, 2009 FOREVER

There's most likely some Pop Warner coaches that would have been an improvement
