Interesting that Steve Stripling noted that he is the fifth defensive line corch in the last five years for the Vols.Incredible. and as I suspected, people are going to be on the move this spring. They did not mention any names, but they are starting to get to know the kids and are trying to gain their trust. Excerpt from Rivals (Volquest): "I have an idea and a vision of what I want our defense to look like," Jancek offered. "There is work to do, but I'm also open minded in the fact that I just want them to play hard and work hard. All the other things we are going to grow together. We are going to move people around to different spots and grow. "You have to be great at the defensive line position and in the secondary. You can't be giving bombs up over your head. Those are the spots that we are going to solidify those with the guys we have at our disposal." The secondary and defensive front go hand in hand when it comes to eliminating big plays. Tennessee's defensive backs must play with more confidence and better technique, but they also need help up front from the defensive line with quarterback pressure. The last two seasons, the defense has amassed just 33 sacks. In contrast, Cincinnati the last two seasons combined for 76 sacks. Stripling believes there are a couple of keys to be a good pass rushing team. |
